SOUTH WINDSOR—
A 43-year-old man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly stealing more than $10,000 worth of chicken and other meat products from a distributor where he worked last year.
Boris Delisser, a former employee at Waybest Chicken on John Fitch Boulevard, was charged with first-degree larceny. He posted bail and was released from custody.
He is scheduled to be arraigned May 2 at Superior Court in Manchester.

Delisser quit his job at Waybest Chicken in February 2012 after his boss saw him loading boxes of meat onto a truck that had driven away. There was no sales record for transaction, and Delisser couldn’t provide an explanation, police said.
After Delisser quit, his employer called police, and they reviewed surveillance video going back one month. The video showed several instances where Delisser took meat from the warehouse but did not provide a sales record.
The employer estimated the loss at more than $10,000. The estimate is based on one month of video that was viewed. Inventory from previous months showed more meat was missing, police said.
Police were unable to identify the driver of the truck that took the boxes from Delisser.
While reviewing the video police discovered a second employee, 48-year-old Juan Flores, who also took meat products, police said. He and Delisser were not working together, police said.
Flores’ attorney, Corey J. Brinson of Hartford, said his client maintains is innocence.
“All the video shows is my client doing his job taking product in and out of the freezer,” Brinson said.
Flores was charged in July 2012 with third-degree larceny. His case is scheduled to go to trial.

OCALA, Fla. – Three years after banning paddling, the Marion County school board agreed Tuesday to let elementary school principals resume the practice to punish misbehaving students.
Officials approved the measure, which has been banned since 2010.
According to the Ocala Star-Banner, paddling can only be used in elementary schools, and only if a parent gives a standing written approval once a year. In addition, the principal must receive verbal permission before paddling the child. And a student can be paddled just once a semester.
The newspaper reports that before the practice was banned, Marion County was one of the largest districts in the state that still used corporal punishment.
The motion to bring back paddling was made by board member Carol Ely, a retired principal who believes it is a good option for discipline.
But board members Bobby James and Angie Boynton voiced concerns.
“This is going to open up a whole can of worms,” said James. He also suggested corporal punishment could end up being used disproportionately on minority students.
Boynton suggested that the district’s in-school suspension program is a better alternative to paddling. The program, called Positive Alternative to School Suspension, gives parents of students recommended for suspension a place to send their children. The PASS program started in 2010, after paddling was banned.
Mark Vianello, the executive director of student services in Marion County, said more behavior specialists were added to schools after paddling was banned

U.S. employees set to be forced to give bosses their Facebook PASSWORDS
A last minute alteration to CISPA was defeated in a Congress vote
It would have protected user’s social media passwords from employers

An attempt to ban US bosses from asking employees to hand over their Facebook login details has been blocked by Congress.
A last minute alteration to the controversial Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA) that would have prevented employers demanding that prospective employees disclose social media passwords as a condition of employment was voted down in the house of representatives.
The proposal, put forward by Democrat Ed Perlmutter was defeated by a 224-189 majority, according to the Huffington Post.
Invasion of privacy? An amendment to a new US bill on cyber attacks aimed at preventing employers asking prospective employees for their Facebook login has been rejected
Checking up: CISPA does nothing to address concerns that US employers can legitimately ask employees for social media login details as a condition of employment (file picture)
Handing over passwords could legally be a condition of acquiring or keeping a job, said WebProNews.
Perlmutter said of his amendment before it was defeated: ‘It helps the individual protect his right to privacy and it doesn’t allow the employer to impersonate that particular employee when other people are interacting with that person across social media platforms.

Shamed former congressman Anthony Weiner is back on Twitter – the SAME social network that RUINED his career less than two years ago
He warned of an invasion of privacy and the potential of employers to ‘impersonate’ employees online.
The Democrat initially proposed the password privacy measure as part of the Federal Communications Commission Process Reform Act of 2012 and warned that social media users have a reasonable expectation of privacy.
Blocked: The amendment to CISPA was put forward by Democrat Ed Permutter who says that social media users have an expectation of privacy
In a statement he added: ‘They have an expectation that their right to free speech and religion will be respected when they use social media outlets.
‘No American should have to provide their confidential personal passwords as a condition of employment.’
Perlmutter faced criticism from bill sponsor Mike Rogers who claimed that he was trying to kill the act.
He said that the issue should be addressed in separate legislation.
But previous attempts to counteract the increasing trend of employers asking for prospective employees social networking login details have failed.
The Password Protection Act 2012 was introduced to Senators and Congressman but was not passed.
The overall act would allow the US Government and private companies such as Facebook to share information with one another should they come under cyber attack.
But critics of the contentious bill, which initially failed when it was rejected by Senators last year, say that it would bypass privacy laws and allow companies to hand over users’ information to the Government.
They claim that it would prevent companies who hand over people’s personal details from facing legal action and effectively justify social media spying.
But CISPA recieved support from both Democrats and Republicans in the House of Representatives.
Reassurance: Facebook told its US users earlier this month that it has no intention of sharing sensitive personal information
Although the Act was ratified by the House of Representatives, there is a good chance that it could yet fall through.
CISPA was also approved by Congress in April 2012, but was rejected by the Senate. The White House even threatened to veto the act at the time.
Republicans Mike Rogers and Dutch Ruppersberger have once again put CISPA forward as they say that it is vital that companies have the ability to stop threats materialising in light of an increase in the number of foreign cyber attacks from countries like China.
Facebook initially came out in support of CISPA, but its name has since disappeared from a list of firms fully supporting the bill this time around.
Under threat: CISPA is aimed at allowing companies to share information to thwart potential cyber attacks
And the social networking site vice president of US Public Policy Joel Kaplan reassured users that Facebook has no intention of sharing sensitive personal information with the Government.
He said: ‘The overriding goal of any cybersecurity bill should be to protect the security of networks and private data, and we take any concerns about how legislation might negatively impact Internet users’ privacy seriously.’
But other big name companies including IBM, Intel, McAfee and Time Warner Cable are in favour of CISPA.

WTF AFRICA- MAN BELIEVES GOBLIN IS CALLING HIM
WHEN his cellphone rings Saul Padi’s blood freezes. He believes the caller is a goblin with dreadlocks!
The creature keeps him awake at nights – sending SMSes – and keeps on calling him at work during the day. Even worse, he says, it also sends insulting written messages or makes calls to his girlfriend’s cellphone.
The goblin comes to 40-year-old Saul in the form of a dreadlocked man, but it uses a woman’s voice when it calls him, he says.
Speaking to reporters at his home, Saul said: “This started in March last year after my wife and I got divorced. One day I was shocked to find my dead mother standing in the middle of my kitchen. I was troubled and needed to talk to her, but then I became suspicious and realised it was not my mother but a goblin.”
Saul said the goblin became angry at being caught out and it started attacking him. Then it just disappeared.
But it came back as a dreadlocked man and has been fighting with Saul ever since. His body is covered with scars and scratches.
In December the goblin started sending disgusting SMSes to his cellphone.
“I reported this to police. The number was stopped through the service provider. My girlfriend and I changed our cellphone numbers, but it keeps finding them and calling me,” Saul said.
When news reporters tried to return a call the phone just rang and went unanswered.
