A 43-year-old man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly stealing more than $10,000 worth of chicken and other meat products from a distributor where he worked last year.

Boris Delisser, a former employee at Waybest Chicken on John Fitch Boulevard, was charged with first-degree larceny. He posted bail and was released from custody.

He is scheduled to be arraigned May 2 at Superior Court in Manchester.

Delisser quit his job at Waybest Chicken in February 2012 after his boss saw him loading boxes of meat onto a truck that had driven away. There was no sales record for transaction, and Delisser couldn’t provide an explanation, police said.

After Delisser quit, his employer called police, and they reviewed surveillance video going back one month. The video showed several instances where Delisser took meat from the warehouse but did not provide a sales record.

The employer estimated the loss at more than $10,000. The estimate is based on one month of video that was viewed. Inventory from previous months showed more meat was missing, police said.

Police were unable to identify the driver of the truck that took the boxes from Delisser.

While reviewing the video police discovered a second employee, 48-year-old Juan Flores, who also took meat products, police said. He and Delisser were not working together, police said.

Flores’ attorney, Corey J. Brinson of Hartford, said his client maintains is innocence.

“All the video shows is my client doing his job taking product in and out of the freezer,” Brinson said.

Flores was charged in July 2012 with third-degree larceny. His case is scheduled to go to trial.
