14 year old girl enrols at UZ
By _

A 14 year old wonder girl, Maud Chifamba, has broken new ground by becoming the youngest student to enrol at the University of Zimbabwe after she was admitted to study for a Bachelor of Accountancy Honours Degree.

Maud, who defied the odds at the age of 14 when she attained 12 points at Advanced Level will be the nation’s youngest Accountant in four years time.

Growing up in a poor family in the Hunters resettlement area in Kwekwe and losing her father at a tender age of five, Maud managed to write her Grade seven examination at the age of ten.

She took two years to complete her Ordinary Level before she wrote her A-level at the age of 14 and managed to score 12 points.

Maud says she owes her success to God.

“It is only God who saw me through all what people might think as abnormal,” said Maud.

Maud’s brother, Gilbert Chifamba said discipline has been the key to his sister’s success.

“We thought she would just lose her mind on the way but she stood the taste of time, we hope God will continue to lead her,” said Gilbert

Sadly, Maud’s mother won’t be able to witness her daughter fulfilling her dream as she passed away in December last year, just a month after her daughter had sat for her A-Level exams.

For her efforts, Maud has received US$9 933 sponsorship under the ZIMRA Chairman Charity Fund which will be enough to see her complete her degree. – ZBC

GRACE JONES AT THE DIAMOND JUBILEE

Hello Met,

I’m aware you are across the Atlantic and may have missed the recent festivities over this side of the pond in the last few days.

The queen of England has been celebrating her Diamond Jubilee to mark sixty years on the throne. As part of the celebrations, a concert was held infront Buckingham Palace.

As a tribute to the queen, Gary Barlow, of the band Take That, and Composer Andrew Lloyd-Webber, wrote a brand new song for the queen, featuring sounds and performers from the Common Wealth, Gary travelled around the world to come up with a beautiful song called Sing, featuring sounds from Kenya, Australia, Jamaica and the Solomon Islands. The song began and ended with some Kenyan children singing so so beautifully.

The concert featured mainly british acts but there were a few invitees from different countries such as the great Stevie Wonder and W.i.l.l.iam from Black eyed Peas(I think he only made the bill cos he was already here working on some other projects) He sang ‘I got a feelin’ so I guess that wasn’t so bad.

One of the biggest and for me, most unexpected preformances of the night however, was the one and only Grace Jones, she gave a brilliant and energetic performance, and she looked absolutely stunning, I cant believe she is 64!. Gavin Martin, Mirror music critic, gave her a 5 crowns rating, alongside Stevie Wonder, Kylie Minogue and the band Madness.
Met the Woman is a Legend and we need more like her. You would have to see the performance to really get what I am talking about.
It is on Youtube but, unfortunately I do not have an account, so could not post the clip with the e-mail but I suspect you have an account Met so if you’re interested you could find and post it long side.

The queen is a world icon, and the Diamond Jubilee was a very significant event in her reign for various reasons. I think the fact that a tiny island such as Jamaica featured so prominently in the Jubilee celebrations, says alot about how much we are respected as a Nation.
We all need to live up to that respect and stop letting our Island down.

Shock as man has sex with his mother
By A Correspondent

A Domboshawa man, Simon Matsvara, together with his mother, Ethel Vhangare, are on the run after allegedly having an incestuous relationship that resulted in two pregnancies.

The two are from Pote Village under Chief Chinamhora.

Simon first impregnated his mother while his father Agripah Matsvara was alive and for the second time after his death.

It is alleged that the first time Simon impregnated his mother, she had a miscarriage.

However, this time Vhangare is alleged to be five months pregnant and Simon is responsible.

The pair reportedly fled the community recently after getting news that Chief Chinamhora, Simon Chidziva, had sent his aides to arrest them.

It is alleged that Vhangare’s husband, Agripah, suffered a stroke in 2008 and relatives reportedly assigned Simon to assist his mother take care of the father.

Later in the same year, it is alleged Vhangare started vomiting and revealed to a neighbour that she was pregnant and her son was responsible.

Family elders reportedly resolved the matter before fining the pair an undisclosed number of cattle.
Two months later, Vhangare suffered a miscarriage before her husband’s death in 2008.

Simon and his mother reportedly continued with their relationship that resulted in another pregnancy.

The matter came to light after Vhangare absconded church services, prompted churchmates to pay her a visit.

It was then discovered that Vhangare was pregnant again and neighbours reported the matter to Chief Chinamhora who sent his aides to arrest the two.

“We are going to hunt for the two and we will punish them severely to send a clear message to would-be offenders that we do not tolerate such acts,” the chief was quoted by the state media stating yesterday.
