WTF AFRICA- A CASE OF THE NON-BEHAVING WIFE

A 43-year-old transporter on Monday asked an Ikorodu Customary Court, Lagos, to dissolve his five-year-old marriage, accusing his wife of sleeping with a policeman and his co-tenant.

The petitioner, Mr Adedapo Sonariwo, who resides at Ajose St., Owutu Agric area of Ikorodu, accused Dora, his 29-year-old hairdresser wife, of infidelity.

“My wife has been having illicit affair with a policeman who lives in the same compound with us,” Sonariwo told the court.

He also accused Dora of insubordination and lack of care for their children.

“After our marriage, she put up a nonchalant attitude towards the family. She does not cook for our children anymore.

“She goes out early in the morning and returns in the midnight and when I talk, my own mother will support her.

“I stopped giving her allowances because she behaves unruly in the house.

“I am fed up and I pray for a divorce,” the petitioner told the court.

However, the defendant, denied the allegations and begged the court to save her marriage.

“Although my husband is very hot tempered, but I still love him. Anytime I received phone calls she would think I am talking to a man,” she said.

The court president, Mrs Risikat Ekerin, adjourned the case to Oct. 30 for possible reconciliation.
