WTF AFRICA- NAKED DEFENDANT

– Drama unfolded at a court in Thika after a man who had been charged with being in possession of 152 rolls of Bhang worth Sh. 1,800 walked into the court naked and claimed that he had rights to either dress or remain naked.

According to prosecutor Kenneth Kiruai, Joseph Kamande had been arrested by police at Fort Jesus in Ruiru Kiambu County after police were tipped off by residents on Kamande’s narcotics business.

When asked why he was naked he said that he had constitutional rights of dressing and he could choose whether to dress or remain naked. He told the court that the police tore off his clothes and the ones they gave him were oversize thus he could not wear them. Ndeda allowed Kamande to take his plea regardless of the state of his dressing.

He pled not guilty to the charges. When he was requested by the police to dress after the court session he refused and said he wanted to remain naked.
Kamande will be remanded until October 25 when his case will be heard again.
