The burial of a popular 38-year-old motorcyclist from Grantland in Linstead, St Catherine, recently sparked controversy between two of his at least 20 babymothers who turned out to pay their last respects.

THE STAR heard that the majority of the women who got pregnant for Michael ‘Flinky Joe’ Mitchell and who were present at his funeral held at a church in Charlemont, openly embraced each other as they bemoaned the loss of their loved one

“Yu waa see di whole a him babymadda dem a hug up and a bawl, dem man deh a gallis,” said Blossom, a bartender who works just outside of Charlemont in the parish.

‘good friends’

During a visit to the area yesterday THE STAR, however, learnt that two ‘good friends’ were not so friendly at the funeral. The two are said to have began accusing each other of “disrespecting the friendship” after learning that they shared something in common, they both had a baby for Mitchell.

“Yes di man breed di two girl dem and dem a close friend and neva know,” a resident of the parish said. She added that word of the incident has become one of the hot topics within Linstead and its surrounding areas.

When cointacted, even sources from the Linstead police said that they too knew of the happenings at the funeral. “Yes man mi know bout it, a whole heap a baby madda go fi true,” one policeman said.

According to the police, Mitchell died about a month ago when he crashed from his motorcycle and broke his neck.
