Nude, decomposing bodies of missing Zion boys found in river
BY HORACE HINES Observer staff reporter [email protected]
Friday, September 21, 2012

MARTHA BRAE, Falmouth — The search for the two boys who went missing from their Zion community in Trelawny last Saturday, ended in tragedy yesterday when their decomposing, nude bodies were fished from the Martha Brae River.
The bodies of Alex Brown, 10, and seven-year-old Javani Brown were seen floating in the river by a man who was working nearby. They were last seen alive, playing together near their homes on Saturday afternoon.

“I was sweeping the place when I saw a little thing in the water. I thought it was a dead animal but when I got closer I saw flies. When I got even closer, I realised it resembled a body, so I called another youth and asked him if it was a body and him say ‘yes’, The man, who identified himself only as Valin, told the Jamaica Observer.
An alarm was raised, which drew scores of persons to the scene. The police were summoned and a subsequent search of the river led to the discovery of the body younger boy near nearby.
Items of clothing, said to belong to the boys, were found on a section of the river bank.
Alex was a grade six student of Falmouth All-Age School, while Javani was in grade one at Hague Primary.
There were many speculations by angry residents as to how the boys died. Many surmised that the boys were sodomised then killed and their bodies dumped in the river. Persons claimed that Javani’s intestines were protruding through the anus.
However, commander for the Area One Police Division, Assistant Commissioner of Police Devon Watkis, said there were no signs of violence and that the deaths appeared to be an accident.
“It seems it is one of those unfortunate incidents that they seemingly went swimming unsupervised,” he told the Observer during a telephone interview.
He, however, said he will await the results of the post-mortem.
“Once we heard [that they were missing], we launched a criminal investigation consistent with the missing persons policy. We will await confirmation from pathologists, in terms of the postmortem, just to be sure,” he said.
The senior policeman also used the opportunity to appeal to parents to supervise their children, “to avoid a likely recurrence” of the horrible incident.
Yesterday, Javani’s father recounted the last moments with his son. He said on Saturday morning he prepared breakfast for Javani and his brother, then he sat with them outside, before going inside the house.
He recalled that on going back outside the house, he saw neither of his boys. He went to Alex’s house, but neither the boys nor Alex was there.
“I came down by the river and me watch the guys swimming and check to see for them and did not see them,” he recounted.
The police were informed and several days of searching ensued.
He said given that the boys were not at the river on Saturday, he was baffled by yesterday’s discovery.
“It surprise me now to see them there so. It surprise me because me was here Saturday evening and me was looking, and when I was here I did not see none of them,” the distraught father said.
Meanwhile, Alex’s distressed mother, Kaydie Palmer, was too overcome with grief to speak with the media. She had to be consoled by other residents.

JAMAICA A GET PSYCHOTIC NOW?

Male nurse turns fake doctor
BY PAUL HENRY Crime/Court Desk co-ordinator [email protected]
Friday, September 21, 2012

KINGSTON, Jamaica – A 56-year-old male nurse, who is alleged to have impersonated a doctor and performed an abortion procedure, was yesterday denied bail in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court.

Accused Derrick Palmer, who is a nurse at the Mona Rehabilitation Centre in St Andrew, is also accused of injecting the woman with an unknown substance and prescribing medication for her.
The court was told that he collected money from her for the procedure
.
The medication, the court was told, did not work and the woman — after finding out that Palmer was not the medical doctor he claimed to be — reported the matter to the Fraud Squad.
Palmer was subsequently arrested during a sting operation and a quantity of pharmaceutical items allegedly found in his car and at his Kingston 10 home.
He was slapped with a slew of charges, among them inducing abortion and breaches of the Pharmaceutical Act.
But attorney CJ Mitchell denied the allegations against his client during a vigourous bail application. The attorney said that Palmer was in possession of the pharmaceutical items, because they belonged to his mother who passed away recently.
Mitchell said Palmer’s mother had been suffering from cancer.
However, magistrate Georgianna Fraser denied the application, saying that she needed a list of the drugs, allegedly found in Palmer’s vehicle and at his house, and evidence as to whether they were legitimately prescribed.
Palmer will next appear in court on October 2 when a fresh bail application could be made.

TOP FIVE RELATIONSHIP PET PEEVES

Top 5 Relationship Pet Peeves
Top Pet Peeves that annoy the other partner

Let’s face it- NO relationship is perfect. No matter how much you love each other and no matter how many things you have in common and agree on, there is always going to be something that one person will do to bother or annoy the other. This has nothing to do with love, but more based on the fact that when two individuals merge their lives together, there are bound to be times when they will clash. You may feel like “one”, but you are still separate people with minds of your own and not everything about your partner will appeal to you, regardless how much you love each other.

Here are the Top 5 most common Relationship Pet Peeves:

Nagging – okay, we all feel the need to complain every once in a while, but when complaining becomes the main theme of your verbal expression, it becomes defined as nagging, and no one likes a nag. Nagging, to most, is annoying and frustrating and makes the person being nagged to like they can’t do anything right and they eventually grow tired of it and either leave the relationship or block out the nagging and stop caring.
Lying – No one appreciates being lied to- especially when the lies are trivial, unnecessary and constant. It is very frustrating for a person to have to deal with a lover who constantly lies about every little thing. Not only is ot annoying, but makes one wonder if there are bigger lies that they are not even aware about, creating major trust issues in the relationship.
Drama Queen – We are all capable of having bratty moments and taking center stage, but there are some people who always need to be the center of attention and make a huge production out every little thing. This usually become very irritating over time and makes the other partner feel like he/she has to walk on eggshells, making the relationship very unfair.
Indecisiveness- Not being able to ever make a decision and sticking to it is very frustrating. A couple should be able to openly communicate and make decisions together. Both partners need to put their input on things and let the other know what they want, rather than never making a decision and leaving their partner to make all the decisions in a relationship.
Promise Breaking- Nothing is more irritating and hurtful than a person who makes promises and breaks them over and over again. It shows lack of consideration for the other’s feelings and also means the person cannot be trusted or relied on. Do not make promises you feel you may not be able to keep, because besides being annoying, it also ruins character.

WTF AFRICA- MOTHER POSSESSED AFTER SON’S VERDICT READ

Business temporarily came to a standstill at the Harare magistrates’ court last Friday after a woman whose son had been convicted of three counts of rape went berserk and threatened cops and court officials. The woman threw her tantrums while sitting in the court gallery.

Gilbert Jacob’s mother could not stomach her son’s conviction as she started making noises as magistrate Sandra Mupindu was reading the judgment. When the female court orderly went to caution her and asked her to leave the court room, the ‘possessed’ woman resisted and she only agreed to go out after the intervention of a male prison officer.

Gilbert’s mother was then taken to the court Police Post where she was detained but she did not stop shaking and making noise. Efforts by the cops to calm the woman down proved fruitless as she started shouting all words she could think of, most of them being being vulgar words.

“Usandibate, unoziva zvandafambira pano? Zvino nhasi munondiona, nhasi hameno zvichaitika pano, yohweeeee,” she shouted.

The woman’s screams were so loud thst she disturbed business in other courts forcing the cops to take her out of the building.

“Munondibatirei? Hamuzivi zvandafambira pano. Mwana wangu kani. Mwana wangu kani,” she yelled.

A male cop, who ordered her to stand up and go out of the Police Post was insulted with some deep vulgar words and by this time, a huge crowd had gathered at the scene. Gilbert’s mother was escorted outside the building and this time around, she was calm and she went and sat at the car park.

Meanwhile, her son remained in court, pleading with the court for a lenient sentence. Appearing for the State, prosecutor Tinashe Kanyemba-Makiya, however, lambasted Gilbert’s conduct saying the court should impose a custodial sentence.

Magistrate Mupindu will this Friday give the reasons for Gilbert’s sentence as the convict was ordered to go for an HIV test after it was revealed that the complainant had tested HIV positive
