I am not British. I originate from the Caribbean. I had made an application to remain in the United Kingdom, but my application was denied. I have been thinking about my next move as I have now made my life in the United Kingdom, but I have recently been contacted by a company offering me assistance to return to my home in the Caribbean. Is this real, and how did they get my details? I was really caught off guard. Any information would be helpful.

Dear GW,

Capita Business Services was awarded a contract with the United Kingdom Border Agency in October 2012 to provide a range of services. Included in this range were contact management and case-working services. The company is charged with contacting persons who no longer have permission to remain in the United Kingdom and also facilitating that person’s return to his home country. This is all in an effort by the British authorities to maintain control over the United Kingdom immigration system. It could possibly be that company as they are currently contacting persons who have overstayed in the United Kingdom.

Capita Business Services is working on cases that are in the ‘migrant refusal pool’ (MRP). This pool consists of records of people who have made applications to remain in the United Kingdom, but have been refused, or who have had their leave curtailed. In such cases, Capita Business Services will be using those records to contact applicants with a view to establishing their current circumstances and, where appropriate, to inform them that they are required to leave the United Kingdom.

How the system works is that when a foreign national has entered the United Kingdom on a valid visa and has subsequently been refused an extension of leave to remain, but evidence of their departure has not been confirmed, Capita Business Services will typically be contacting that person. Since October 2012, Capita has been checking cases against the United Kingdom Border Agency’s records, all in an effort to identify which individuals should be contacted. The company will use various types of contact methods to establish the circumstances associated with an individual, and these might include text messages, letters, emails, and the telephone.

Immigration control

This company has been contacting thousands of migrants every week. It should be noted that while the vast majority have been identified correctly, there have been a small number of cases that might include people who are now actually legally living in the United Kingdom. It is possible that in such cases, the circumstances may have changed, or updates on such cases may not have filtered through in time to prevent the company contacting that person. The United Kingdom Border Agency is attempting to use this system to enforce the immigration rules, and in doing so, prevent persons with no right to stay indefinitely being in the United Kingdom, thereby undermining the immigration system.

The United Kingdom Border Agency has stated that it intends to continue to work closely with Capita Business Services to ensure the information they are using is as accurate and as current as possible. However, they have stated that if they are in receipt of evidence that does show that an individual has valid leave to remain or has left the United Kingdom, then it will update its records.

A Long Island man upset about his lawyer wife’s new social life after she lost weight fatally shot her in their bedroom yesterday — then turned the gun on himself, family members said.
Police identified the Elmont couple as Karen Rodgers Dennis, 46 – a mother of three grown children — and her husband, Audley Dennis, 58, who worked in shipping.
“Basically, she was really enjoying her life at the time and it didn’t sit too pretty with him,” said Karen’s brother, Ken Rodgers. “She was going out with the girls and friends.”
Neighbors said the pair was often heard arguing — and suspected the reason was Karen’s stunning new figure.
“Maybe there was jealousy. She looked great. She was going out a lot,” said neighbor Simone Dolabaille, 35.
She did not have words as kind for Audley, whom she called “generally unpleasant.”
“He would kick stuff into my driveway. He would never say good morning or goodnight,” Dolabaille said.
Ken Rogers said his sister wasn’t cheating on her husband.
“It was mostly girls nights out,” he said. “Maybe he saw his world just breaking up in front of him and he couldn’t take it.”
Nassau County Det. Sgt. James Skopek said Karen was found shot several times in the upper torso in her bedroom. Audley was found dead of a shotgun blast to the chest.
“They had their altercations. They would argue and yell, have outbursts. They would just be cursing. They argued about money. It would turn into something stupid about stuff for the house, groceries,” said 19-yr-old Dejon Nemorin, who is pals with Aidan – one of the couple’s sons.
They have three children: Aidan, 16, Aaron, 19 and Maya, 21. The 19-year-old son attends Villanova on a soccer scholarship an the 21-year-old goes to Williams College.
Police said they had been called to the home for domestic violence issues over the years, but said the most recent call was five years ago.
“We don’t know what provoked it,” Skopek said of the shooting.
On her Facebook page, Karen, an attorney, can be seen flaunting her new figure and received several encouraging compliments about her recent weight loss.
“You go girl!!” posted Sonya Rogers-Blyden.
“You look great. Keep up the good work. I am working myself also. I lost 49 lbs in in months, dropped 4 dress size, working on 5. God Bless, elaine,” wrote Elaine A Johnson.

The War of the Wings has begun.

Two storage workers in Georgia are accused of stealing $65,000 worth of frozen chicken wings amid a high nationwide demand for the delicious Super Bowl snack.

Dewayne Patterson, 35 and Renaldo Jackson, 26, allegedly used a rental truck on Jan. 12 to steal 10 warehouse pallets of frozen wings from Nordic Cold Storage in Lawrenceville, WSB-TV reported today.

The two allegedly pulled the heist in the middle of the day. Jackson reportedly used a forklift to load the wings while Patterson acted as a lookout.

They were arrested on Wednesday and charged with one count of felony theft, AJC reports.

They were later released on $2,950 bond. The wings, however, were never found.

It’s a theft most fowl because wings are expected to reach record prices during the Super Bowl this year. Chicken farmers argue that feed prices are growing following a higher demand for wings in restaurants, leaving football fans bracing for a shortage.

“He didn’t make love to me for eight months. After our wedding, I stayed for five years without an issue. Throughout the period, life was unbearable for me. I developed high blood pressure in the process but my husband did not feel concerned.”The above words were part of the testimony of a 39-year-old woman who urged an Agege Grade ‘B’ Customary Court to dissolve her 11-year-old union over battery allegation and threat to life.
Mrs Oluwatosin Abiodun, a trader, of 5, Bemil Street, Ojodu, who is married to Olatunji Abiodun, an engineer, told the court that her husband treated her like a slave and made life unbearable for her.
“I lived in hell on earth. I lived in fear, pains and anguish. I kept all these to myself because I didn’t want my home to break”, Oluwatosin said in her evidence-in-chief.
“The worst part of it was that my husband was dating a neighbour’s wife and even brought her to my matrimonial home and I caught them pants down.
“My husband is now married and the other woman is right inside his house. While with him, he would beat me with iron rod. He pampered me when I was delivered of a baby, after that, he resumed his beating habits. I am tired of the marriage” she cried.
In urging the court to grant her request, Oluwatosin said, “I want the court to end the union and grant me custody of the children.” However, her 42-year-old husband, did not appear in court.
Meanwhile, the court president, Mr Emmanuel Shokunle, adjourned the case till Feb. 19 for judgment.
