GOODMORNING-PRAYER WARRIORS

Who were the prayer warriors in the Bible?

Prayer warriors are people who are known for regularly interceding on behalf of others before God. To intercede means to come between, so prayer warriors are, in effect, coming between God and the trouble in another person’s life.

Prayer warriors are like defense attorneys, appealing to the Higher Court on behalf of their defendants. We’re all guilty before God, but God is merciful. Prayer warriors recognize that quality of God’s personality and call on Him for intervention.

Let’s study several prayer warriors in the Bible and see what we can learn from them:

Jehoshaphat was King of Judah when he received word that his land was being invaded. In 2 Chronicles 20:1-24, we read how the king prayed fervently to the Lord: “O LORD, God of our fathers, are you not the God who is in heaven? You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations. Power and might are in your hand, and no one can withstand you. O our God, did you not drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel and give it forever to the descendants of Abraham your friend?” (verses 6-8). Jehoshaphat acknowledged God’s power and His help in previous circumstance, he was aware of his inability and lack of knowledge, and he proclaimed his trust in God!

God answered his cry for help in a miraculous way! 2 Chronicles 20:15 reports God’s message: “…Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.” Early in the morning, Jehoshaphat gathered his army and urged them to have faith in God. When they arrived at the battlefield, they found that the Lord had already won the victory (2 Chronicles 20:20-30)!

Shadrach, Mesach, and Abednego were three men who refused to bow before anyone or anything but God! When they refused King Nebuchadnezzer’s order to bow down, they told the king, “If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up” (Daniel 3:17-18). Because of their disobedience, the king threw them into a blazing furnace.

The king immediately saw that they were not harmed. Daniel 3:26-27 says, “So Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego came out of the fire, and the satraps, prefects, governors and royal advisers crowded around them. They saw that the fire had not harmed their bodies, nor was a hair of their heads singed; their robes were not scorched, and there was no smell of fire on them.”

Paul was perhaps the greatest example of a prayer warrior in the New Testament. He repeatedly prayed for others, especially the individual churches with whom he was working. In Ephesians 3:14-21, while Paul was in prison, he prays for the believers in the church at Ephesus: “For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge-that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”

There is a visible change in the Vybz Kartel’s complexion over the years.

New York clubdj and Irie Jam radio host/programme director, Dubb Master Chris, is standing by his decision not to play any songs by dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel during Black History Month.

The radio discjock had announced last week that he will not play any music from the artiste who has raised eyebrows for bleaching his skin.

Black History Month is a big deal and we as a people should take every opportunity to celebrate our heritage. I feel if I continue to play Vybz Kartel, an artiste who is now very much known for bleaching his skin, it simply sends the wrong message to my young impressionable listeners” Chris said in an exclusive interview with the Star.

“Please understand that I have a lot of love and respect for Kartel’s music. I respect his enormous talent and his individuality.He is one of the great lyricists of our time, however, at times I am disappointed in the direction he decides to take his audienceeven thoughthat is his prerogative” he noted.

Chris, who reiterated that he has been playing Vybz Kartel music on his radio show since the artiste first broke on the scene in the late 90s with Gal Clown, said he is against bleaching.

“I strongly believe bleaching is wrong, wrong, wrong! It’s a disgrace. It’s a slap in the face of our heritage, our ancestors andour God. This definitely sends the wrong message to children, I think it leads them to believe that somehow, if they are dark complexion something is wrong with that.It erodes the concept thatblack is beautiful,” he said.


Dubb Master Chris

Chris, whose career on radio spans 16 years, said he made the decision to ban Kartel songs because of the power and influence the dj wheels, especially on the minds of young impressionable kids who love his music.

“Without a doubt kids are following his lead. Entertainers need to understand that the words they use are powerful. They influence their listeners, especially the younger ones. Artistes have the power to start trends good or bad … remember that,” he noted.

He called on other radio jocks who programme reggae songs to “take a good look at the values they are reinforcing by playing an artiste such as Kartel especially in these times.” He noted that the temporary ban on Kartel music specifically applies to radio play. The ban he said was a personal decision but said that he had the full support of the Irie Jam Radio management and other jocks at the station.

Vybz Kartel, the award winning DJ who is known for songs like Romping ShopClarkesGun Like Mine, and Who Tell You Fi Run has said in several interviews that he doesn’t mind being controversial and he bleaches to show up his many tattoos.

He is also comfortable with black people bleaching and it is tantamount to white people tanning.

Police lab tests reveal yogurt had an extra added ingredient: SEMEN

A New Mexico woman thought she was eating healthy when she accepted a yogurt sample from a male clerk at a local grocery store. After swallowing the sample, the woman thought she tasted an extra added ingredient that wasn?t on the menu.

So she took her suspicions ? and what was left of the yogurt sample ? to the New Mexico police department where tests were run on the yogurt. The lab tests came back positive for ejaculated protein, aka semen, and saliva.

Police immediately took out search warrants to obtain blood and DNA samples from the grocery store clerk, Anthony Garcia, 31. Police said the body fluids were necessary to make sure the suspect doesn?t have any sexually transmitted diseases.

They busted Garcia on the spot after it was determined that he had two outstanding warrants for a 2009 arrest for criminal sexual activity with a minor.
The 28-year-old victim, whose name was redacted from the police report, was shopping with her daughter at the Sunflower grocery store in Albuquerque, when she was approached by Garcia, who worked in the store?s dairy department.

He offered her a sample of yogurt, which she accepted. But she was immediately grossed out and disgusted when she realized the sample ?tasted like semen.?

In a handwritten statement, the woman wrote, ?I spit it out on the floor many times cuz I was upset.?

She wrote that when she talked to the grocery store manager Catherine Flores, ?she told me was a Greek yoghurt. People love it has lot of protein on it.?

The woman said she paid for her groceries and returned home where she discussed the incident with her boyfriend. She told him how Garcia ?just come with one sample just for me,? and that ?he was so pushy to tell me how it taste.?

Her boyfriend was sufficiently alarmed enough to accompany her back to the store, where they summoned the police. When police arrived, an ?extremely nervous? Garcia told them he discarded the yogurt samples in a trash compactor after the woman complained about the taste.

This story gives new meaning to the phrase ?You are what you eat.?
