SUICIDE IS NOT THE ANSWER- GOODMORNING
by Ian Drucker
Pain, sorrow and depression is often used, I believe, by the enemy to lead people in addictive behaviors to a point where they seriously consider taking their own lives. While steeped in my addiction to Internet Porn there were times that I became very depressed.
I felt hopeless. I also felt compelled to take my own life, thinking that death would be the only way out of an inescapable and very consuming addiction. I thought that my wife and family would be better off without me around.
I came very close a number of times. This prompting became extremely strong after a number of cycles in which my wife discovered me surfing the Internet for porn, after I had promised never to do it again.
I will never forget the night she caught me in the act after I promised again, to stop. The look on her face revealed more pain than I could bear. I saw in her eyes a cold stare that I had never seen before. She seemed to be looking right through me, as if she didn’t know who I was. It was then that I realized that I may loose her for the rest of my life. Suddenly, the pain of my sin overtook the pleasure that I had been experiencing from the act of my sin. I pray to God that I never have to see that look on my wife’s face again. I am now aware that Satan would have been very happy and satisfied if he could have influenced me enough to the point that I pulled the trigger on myself.
2 Timothy 2:25-26 indicates, “Those who oppose him (A Workman Approved by God) he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.”
During the times of my addiction I opposed many workmen approved by God. If I had in fact killed myself, as I believe that Satan was whispering for me to do, then I never would have come to the point of repentance and faith in Christ Jesus. That means that I would have been condemned for all eternity. I still get chills up and down my spine every time I realize how close I was to that becoming my reality. I am so thankful that God has granted me repentance, and that I was led to the knowledge of the truth that is found only in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I am also very aware that such a decision would have caused a great deal of pain to my family and friends. The ripple affect that would have resulted if I did commit suicide, would have been far reaching. That, however, was not a major concern during the time I was contemplating my fate. I can’t say for sure why I never really went through with it. All I can say is that I was spared by the grace of God.
It is interesting that one of my favorite Bible verses is now Romans 8:28. It states, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
The fact that I am now saved is nothing short of a miracle. It seems so unlikely given that I was born and raised in the Jewish faith, that I have had a terrible addiction which started at age 13 and that I did not accept and believe in Jesus Christ until I was 33 years old (I am now 44). Our God is an awesome God. He has a plan and purpose for my life. Now free from my addiction (not from temptation), I have been called by God to spend the rest of my life working to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and to help others by leading them to Jesus Christ. I know that I am, with the power of the Holy Spirit, more than a conqueror. Therefore, I am able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.
I want to encourage anyone reading this article that is suffering with these same issues to stop thinking about suicide. Suicide is not the answer. The answer is Jesus! It is time for you to develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Do not give up hope. Do not take your life. Know that God loves you, and that He wants you to be saved by His grace and your faith in His Son Jesus Christ. Life is worth living, and will be eternal, when you decide to live it for Jesus.

Hot 97Boston pledges support for reggae/dancehall music
Jamaica-born DJ Mikey Jarrett, now residing in the U.S., waves a Jamaican flag during a short performance at the recently held seventh staging of the Irie Jamboree Reggae Festival in Queens, New York.
– Says genre was abandoned by US mainstream commercial radio
– Plans dancehall/reggae tour of US this summer in celebration of ‘Jamaica 50’
Hot97Boston.com announced over the weekend, its move from Terrestrial Digital Radio back to a Digital Internet Radio platform and pledged its continued support of real hip hop, dancehall-reggae, and R&B, saying it stood ready to chart an even bigger course forward for real hip hop and dancehall-reggae in particular; both of which had been basically abandoned by mainstream commercial radio stations in the United States.
“Hot97Boston originally operated as a digital Internet radio station focussing on the region’s many colleges and universities for almost an entire year. It was based on that tremendous success that led to us lending our amazing brand locally for simulcast on terrestrial radio. There was such a loud outcry by the local Boston community for Hot97Boston that we felt a specific responsibility as a Boston-based urban broadcaster to lend our programming to serving the needs of local urban and minority communities of Boston. But there should be no confusion as to what the Hot97Boston brand is and always will be,” said Paul ‘VOG’ Parara, Hot97Boston GM/programme director. “We continue to be a legal, well-respected, trendsetting, digital radio powerhouse that is listened to on seven continents in over 100 counties worldwide.”
As most independent radio stations in America which operate on terrestrial radio have come to realize Federal Communications Commission rules and regulations are designed to make it almost impossible for independent broadcasters to succeed. These rules and regulations favour larger multi-million dollar conglomerates that generally do not serve urban/black/minority listeners and do not know how to programme genre-specific music such as dancehall/reggae to a mainstream/white audience. As a result, independent radio is all but non-existent on terrestrial radio.
VOG added, “Hot97Boston is proud that we have been able to change the old narrative in mainstream radio in America. We have proven the strength of dancehall/reggae as a viable genre on commercial radio today. We’ve watched as national radio powerhouses such as Hot97 in New York and Jamn 94.5 in Boston abandoned most of their dancehall/reggae programming from rotation. We have supported reggae/dancehall 100 per cent and have proven that it can be done, if done correctly. And as a result; in recent months we’ve seen broadcasters around the country begin to follow our lead by reintroducing dancehall/reggae back into mix-shows and regular rotation.”
By recognizing the strength and success of Hot97Boston’s unique approach to urban programming; which was perceived as a big threat to many local and regional broadcasters who represented an old approach to programming, Hot97Boston has decided to take their success national by introducing a new uHotRadio product.
The new uHotRadio will compliment Hot97Boston by allowing listeners to tune into their favourite radio programme no matter where they are – including hip hop, reggae-dancehall, R&B, morning talk, entertainment news, weather, traffic, and sports.
The New uHotRadio will include apps for all platforms including the iPhone, Android, and Blackberry. uHotRadio apps will allow listeners to take one of the world’s hottest radio stations and their DJs with them wherever they go. Wherever ‘u’ have a smartphone ‘u’ will have uHotRadio.
“This is what you call a game changer,” said DJ Chubby Chub, APD Hot97Boston. “My own personal app for my show has 10,000 listeners daily on the strength of Hot97Boston programming, so I can only imagine the positive impact uHotRadio will have on our overall listenership.”
Dancehall/reggae tour of US
Parara a legendary concert and tour promoter himself, who has been instrumental in the success of many national reggae concerts and tours in the US over the past two decades, added “We are planning a major national uHotRadio dancehall/reggae tour towards the end of summer to select US cities in celebration of Jamaica’s 50th anniversary and a hip hop tour to follow in the fall. This will not only introduce uHotRadio nationally on a scale never seen before, but will mark the return of dancehall/reggae artistes to the national US touring market.”
“It is a major accomplishment when you are able to reintroduce an entire genre of music to the urban consciousness in America as we have done with dancehall/reggae,” said Cecil Whyte, deputy GM and director of operations at Hot97Boston Radio. “We know our new national approach will allow us to do even more in supporting dancehall/reggae music and artistes than any other radio station in America.”

LISA HYPE ON JMGSPANKINGNEWMUSIC.COM
Hi how are you?
Lisa: I am fine, good morning.
Let me get to this fast I hear you read JMG, how do you find it?
Lisa: (Laughs) I have fun reading JMG I find it very relaxing and very entertaining
Do you think the people are a bit to harsh at times?
Lisa: Yes sometimes they are but at the end of the day, they are expressing themselves and giving their take and it is how they feel. So I don’t think anyone should go against that.
Do you think that the comments that are made are honest or do you think that most of them are biased?
Lisa: I think its visa versa, some of them are honest, some of them are biased and others are just assumptions.
So how have you been lately in terms of your career because we heard a new song from you, how is that going?
Lisa: Things are going great you know Lisa Hyper is an entertainer that loves to creep before she walks and you can always expect the unexpected. I am just taking it one step at a time. In regards to my album In regards to my album I have changed the date of the release and I am not ready to disclose the release date.
Do you have any surprises in the album for us?
Lisa : Yes of course , the growth in Lisa Hyper, the type of songs that are in the album, the different sounds that I have . You will find Lisa Hyper doing dancehall, rap R&B,one drops, a whole different scenario of music. Right now I am going to be signing to a new management, ever since I have been doing my thing, since 2009 to right now I had no management team, that was what I was lacking. For now I am just in the studio, voicing, writing, getting ready for what is gonna come.
Do you remember when the picture came out and everyone was talking, the females in the Jamaican music industry they did not seem to have unity, do you also see it like that and do you think they are lacking that factor wherein they work together as females because the men do work together. With the females, everyone seems to be doing their own thing do you see a problem with that?
Lisa: Yes I do see a problem with that, even the ones that are coming up, meaning the ones that are there already , everybody wants to be the Queen of the dancehall. Everyone wants to go for the crown, if they don’t use Queen then they drop themselves to the Princess and Lady Saw is already the Queen of the Dancehall so until Lady Saw finishes with music, then the people will consider who they think is the new Queen. I think that is one main factor that is causing the females not to have any unity but also that is how females are, its a woman thing. Women are always fighting down other women. But in my case it is a bit different. I think the fear me and fear how good I am. I know I have made a lot of mistakes in the past but at the end of the day , they know how bad I am and I am young, I am twenty-three, two years from now I will have a much bigger sound, you never know what is gonna come next from Lisa Hyper. A lot of things causes the disunity but I would like to tell the young female artists coming up they they should keep confident and stay focused. Stay around positive things and positive people . The younger generation are the future, I would also like to tell them not to think about who are here now because they will soon be gone.
One thing I would say and I do admire this about you but a lot of people dont know that you are a very humble person, and also strong and I must say this that everything that happened was meant to destroy you as a person what has kept you in the game. What made you wakeup and keep going and tell yourself that you are going to become someone on top because you have also said it that you have it in you to be the top person, what makes you get up everyday?
Lisa: Every since I was born, I knew I was a star, even as a baby. Who are they, meaning those who dont like me to say that I am not, but I know that I am a star. Like I said before, if you have positive people in your life and people who believe in and know you, because at the end of the day, those who are out there dont know you they only think they know Lisa Hyper. They are judging after the picture that was painted of me but I have people around me that know me, like my friends, my father , my sister those are the people that encourge me to go on. Also at the end of the day I know I could do it. The moment I stop is the moment I fail and the moment I fail is the moment they win so there was no way I could have allowed that to happen.
So you do admit that you have that determination?
Lisa : Yes, when you talk about Lisa Hyper you talk about determination, rebellious , and being persistent. You see what I’m saying, at the end of the day you know this business comes wid criticism and all of that but as you know I have gotten it ten times harder but I took it and I have tried to turn the negative into a positive. What would you say were your mistakes? Lisa: Well, my mistake was the trust that I put in certain people I shouldn’t have put in so much trust in that person because at the end of the day, only the person that you love and trust can hurt you. So if I was to say I made a mistake that would be it, the trust. At the end of the day though, Lisa Hyper doesnt live with much regret because at the end of the day , anything I do or say I am prepared to pay the consequence for it. Most people do not know that anything you do you have to be prepared to pay the consequences for it.
