Kilifi GRANDPA arrested for MARRYING 15 year old

Sunday, January 13, 2013 – In Kilifi, an 85 year old man is in police custody for marrying a 15 year old girl after her parents sold her to the elderly man.

According to the young girl who was rescued by residents and human rights activists, she was taken to the elderly man’s home to work as a house help but things changed after the man started sleeping with her.

The girl who is still in primary school had been ordered to live with the elderly man who gave her parents money to help them; the girl comes from a very poor family which may be the reason behind her parents’ action.

The man is said to have paid the girl’s parents thousands of shillings as a form of bride price but lied to the girl that she will be living with the widower as a house help.

The girl was taken to a hospital in the area after the rescue mission and it was confirmed that she is pregnant.
