WHAT ELSE IS NEW?
Kingston businessman Patrick Powell, who is charged with the murder of 17-year-old Kingston College student Kajheel Mais, is to appear in court today 4-13-2012.
Powell will appear on the charge of failure to produce a firearm for inspection.
However, the trial on the firearm charge has been put on hold pending the outcome of the murder case which is now before the Home Circuit Court.
Mais was shot dead on July 1, last when the driver of a BMW X6 reportedly opened fire on the taxi in which he was travelling after it bumped into the sport utility vehicle.
A day after the killing, Powell left the island to the United States.
However, on July 11, last year he returned to the island and surrendered to the police at the Norman Manley International Airport.
The businessman was asked to surrender his licensed firearm for inspection and forensic analysis but he allegedly refused to do so.
