JAMAICA’S PRIORITIES ALL WRONG………..ALWAYS

THE WEEKEND STAR has learnt that the students at the Bog Walk High School in St Catherine who recently ‘exchanged wedding vows’ on the premises have been expelled.

Apart from the students, the security guard who officiated at the ceremony has since been suspended.

Yesterday, a reliable source informed the WEEKEND STAR that the ‘student bride’ didn’t turn up for school after the ceremony and the ‘student groom’ was told by school officials not to come back.

According to the source, “The students were expelled before the media blow it up because from the marriage took place the female student didn’t show up for school, and the male student was told not to come back. He has been giving some trouble because I get to even understand that he has a babymother,” the source told us.

On February 3, THE WEEKEND STAR broke the story that the students did not only exchange vows on the school grounds, but also kissed openly, popped champagne, and shared a wedding cake.

The grade-nine male student, and the female fourth-former also reportedly exchanged genuine solid gold rings.

The principal of the school, Patrick Phillips, had told THE WEEKEND STAR then that he was not present at the time of the ceremony but would conduct an investigation.

Efforts made last evening to contact him about this new development proved futile as calls to his mobile phone went unanswered.

Meanwhile, acting director of communication at the Ministry of Education, Sheryl Bromfield, yesterday said that while she is aware of the incident, she could not confirm if the students had been expelled. She said that she would have to make checks with the school.

“That information we would have to confirm with the school, but as far as we are concerned, the school is under investigation for a number of issues that I cannot disclose as this time. The ministry will be keeping an eye on that school,” Bromfield said.
