ROBBED TO RICHES 4.5

Robbed to Riches 4.5
Life was getting better I was more comfortable with Billy and would go to his house whenever.  On one visit while I was a sleep I heard a very loud mouth of a woman coming from the kitchen I knew that could not have been Ann because she did not sound like that.  I was very curious to see or even hear more  I heard the lady say “Ann, mi an Edna a tek ova today, when yu boss come wi a go surprise him.”  I could not really hear what Ann was saying but I heard when the lady said that she was going to cook hominy porridge.  Shortly after I came out of the bathroom Ann knock the door and told me that she was going out with Carl to get something for Billy’s mother.   I was very shocked I wandered to myself why didn’t he tell me that his mother was coming.  Well I was very afraid but I went down stairs any way and I saw a slim lady with dark skin and  a light skinned  woman with a lot of makeup.   The light skin lady kind of resembled Billy, as uncomfortable as I was I tried to maintain my composure.  I said to both ladies, “Good morning.”  Both ladies turned around and Billy’s mother said, “Oh, good morning you are who again?” and I said “Susanna.”  ” Ann told me that someone was here. You are Billy’s girlfriend? You look young, how old are you?”  I did not answer the first question but I told her I was twenty years old and she said, “Good Lord, anyway I am Mrs. Keane and this is Miss Edna.”  Only then did Miss Edna say “Please to meet you dear.” After the introduction they kept talking as if no one else was there.  I slipped out of the kitchen and went back upstairs.  I was there for about an hour until Billy came in and I heard her speaking to Billy very loudly.  “Billy how old you be again?”  He did not respond he only laughed.  She then told him that she was here for the christening and that this was her seventh grand daughter and did not know what she did to have only girls as grandchildren.  She said “Mi look enuh and mi si Madge.  Yu Know Madge Billy ? Shi have grand daughter and grandson and mi nuh understand why me jus get grand daughter and no grandson.  Julie swear up an down seh a boy and no boy a girl.”  Billy responded by telling the other lady to tell his mother not to think that way.
Billy came upstairs and told me that I shouldn’t mind his mother because she did not mean any harm.  I got to find out that Edna was working with Billy’s mother since Billy was about six years old.  Billy also told me that Edna goes everywhere with his mother and that the next day they will be going to see his grandmother.  He told me that I would be going to  meet his grandmother and other relatives.  I did not feel comfortable sleeping in the house with his mother because it felt strange and so I told him that I wanted to leave.  He told me it was ok he will sleep elsewhere, so I agreed to stay. He said that we were going to visit his grand mother in the morning.   The next day I got ready and we left.  Carl brought Billy’s mother and Edna with him, and Billy and I went together.  It was a far way it was very hilly and the air quality was different everything looked greener than in the city.  We drove in a little way and there was  a house behind a lot of trees.  I saw an old lady with white hair and very dark skin and another lady that came out half way to meet us.  This lady was tall and slender and she wore her belt at her waist and for that age she had a very small waist.  Her skin was honey brown, her hair was black  and had one  plait going all the way down to her waist.  She had green eyes and was strikingly beautiful. Billy introduced me to her as his aunt.  Billy’s grandmother as old as she was still walking around and spoke with a sharp voice.  I realized that the other lady was Billy’s mother ‘s sister. Billy’s mother’s skin was much lighter and she looked more “white” but  the other lady was much prettier.  I also realized after seeing Billy’s grandmother that although her skin was black she did not really have black features.  Billy’s mother gave her sister a lot of things when she arrived and her sister in turn gave her a lot of ground provision.  On our way back Billy told me that his grandmother married his grandfather when she was seventeen years old.  I told him that his aunt was very pretty and he said that everybody said that but she never got married because the young man she wanted to marry died.  After leaving we decided that we would go to Kingston to spend the night because we needed privacy.  That night the only thing I wished for is to have known Billy sooner.
The driving was out of the way and now I decided that I would have to get my visa so I could travel.  I wanted to go to the embassy and I was told by a good source that I would have to money in the bank.  For this I would need Billy’s help so I went straight out and asked him for his help and he told me he would help.  He told me that he would give me an employment letter and would also see what he could do.  Well I made my application and had my interview and I was given a multiple indefinite  visa.  I was very surprised that I would get it on my first visit but I was still thankful.  Billy was the one who took me to the embassy.  Billy did not need a visa to travel because he had a black book.
The first trip Billy and I took together was to Miami, Florida it was a beautiful place the women hardly wore clothes and well the men were friendly with each other. I asked Billy why so many men were holding hands and he told me that they were “freaks.”  What seemed to be such a taboo in Jamaica was so normal here. On the second day Billy took me Shopping on my Miami Beach, I did not  know what to buy because there was so much to choose from.  It took me a little time to decide but Billy did not mind and I bought things for Carl and Ann as well as my family.  He also asked me to buy something for each of his daughters and he had what they wanted written down on a piece of paper.   I knew that the christening would be the next weekend.  Billy asked me  to go so I had to look good so whatever I did not know I would ask the sales lady.    I got a nice dress for the christening and accessories to go with it at the end of the evening Billy gave me a gift.  I was not expecting it because I was there with him all the time and didn’t really see him leave me and he paid for more than enough.   He gave me a Dooney and Bourke bag and inside the bag was a gift box marked Cartier in the box was a bracelet, a Cartier love bracelet to be exact.
The weekend went by quickly and before I knew it it was time for the Christening Billy said that it was not going to be at the church.  He said that everything would be at his brother’s house. He said that we will also have dinner there.  We arrived at the christening at about 5:30 pm I wore a purple dress and gold accessories and of course my  Cartier bracelet. The moment I walked up to the crowd all eyes were on me I was very nervous but I just walked straight ahead.  I saw a few people I recognize including Fedrice’s mother and Billy’s mother.  Before I could move any further I was approached by Julie and she welcomed me and told me that she would introduce me to everyone.  This was something that I really did not want to do. Billy was no where to be found it was if he  disappeared.
