with a suspension that has been longer than usual, questions are being raised about whether or not ZJ Liquid has been fired from ZIP FM.
Liquid’s absence from the airwaves has been evident for some time. This was after he reportedly breached directives issued by the Broadcasting Commission that led to the suspension.
The disc jock confirmed his suspension in early January when he tweeted, “Me peeps rite me get suspend off air from last year maybe I go back on maybe not so all who a wonder that’s the story u see me a liquid.”
That was followed by another tweet by the disc jock, who said, “so all the media house them who a ask people about me don’t have ask anymore, u see me Lol.”
More than a month later, a seemingly frustrated Liquid, who is also known for his song Tweet Hard, again took to twitter.
“How long before me start consider me suspension is forever. Is a big joke now,” he said a week ago.
Although THE STAR was unsuccessful in its quest to get in contact with Liquid, ZIP FM’s programmes manager D’Adra Williams noted that Liquid was still on suspension.
“That’s an internal matter. The investigation is not finished so we cannot say when the suspension will be lifted,” she said, noting that the matter is also before the Broadcasting Commission.
With his fate indefinite, his fans and supporters have been missing his presence on the radio.
“Mi woulda dumb if mi never talk! Radio land miss u beego!,” one person tweeted.
Another said, “Nobody does it like you. You the boss. You always deliver. They can’t keep a good man down boo….you always Shell it.”
Others noted that he has been doing many shows, songs and music videos since his suspension. While on the ‘Put ZJ Liquid Back On Air’ public page that was created on Facebook in 2010, a lot of his listeners have been asking when he will return.
But this is not the first time that Liquid has been suspended. In February 2010, he was suspended after he reportedly played an unedited version of Aidonia’s Love It, which had an expletive in the introduction of the song. Upon hearing the word, however, Liquid immediately tried to cover the error by pulling up the song and playing advertisements before going back to his segment. After returning to radio, he had another blunder in July that year and served a month long suspension.
Also in 2008, Nikki Z was suspended and later parted ways with the radio station.
