Funeral home denies role in Houston casket photo

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — The owner of the Newark, N.J., funeral home that handled services for Whitney Houston says the home had nothing to do with a photograph that surfaced showing the singer’s body in an open casket.
But Carolyn Whigham of Whigham Funeral Home and two pastors say they do know who took the photo that ran in the National Enquirer. They just aren’t identifying the person and say that’s up to the Houston family.
Defending Whigham, the Rev. Ronald Slaughter of nearby St. James AME Church said Thursday the funeral home “had no role in this shameful betrayal.”
The 48-year-old Houston died Feb. 11 in California. Whigham says she determined the photo was taken Feb. 17, a day before the funeral.

PHILADELPHIA – The so-called Black Madam is behind bars, held on $10 million bail as police think she could be tied to 14 silicone-buttocks injection cases. Also, Fox 29 has learned one new case may have caused a coma.
Fox 29 has learned that Padge Windslowe is linked to a third incident where a woman who underwent a procedure fell into a coma in 2008.
On Thursday, Philadelphia police released a new mug shot of Windslowe. Police say she performed an illegal butt enhancement in February 2012, making a patient sick.
Windslowe is also a person of interest in the death of another woman for the same procedure in 2011, which became an international story.
And now, cops are investigating a dozen more cases.
The door was locked and no one would answer at the Delaware County Medical Examiner’s office when Fox 29 tried to get some answers from medical examiner Dr. Frederic Hellman on Thursday. Then county police told us to go.
Dr. Hellman has been studying the Feb. 2011 airport hotel death of Claudia Seye Aderotimi for over a year.
Investigators believe she died from silicone injections administered by Windslowe.
Dr. Hellman later told Fox 29 by phone he’s been waiting five months for FDA test results to determine if the Aderotimi case was a homicide.
On Wednesday night, Philadelphia detectives filed new charges against Windslowe for allegedly injecting a 23-year-old woman at a “pumping party” inside a Germantown home on Feb. 19th.
The woman was hospitalized for seven days.
Windslowe was arrested as she prepared an unknown liquid for another pumping party at the same home Wednesday night.
The charge for the event was anywhere from $700 to $1,800.
Fox 29 News has also learned that Burlington County N.J. detectives are investigating a third case where a 26-year-old woman was allegedly injected by Windslowe at a Mount Laurel, N.J., hotel in 2008.
She lapsed into a coma and has continuing medical problems. No charges have been filed yet in that case.
“We believe 14 people were injected by her with this unknown substance,” said Lt. John Walker, from Southwest Detectives
“Getting her off the street is huge for us because this type of procedure is dangerous.”
Windslowe is being held on $10 million bail for aggravated assault, simple assault and other crimes.
Sources tell Fox 29 that Dr. Hellman had had toxicology results since last July for Aderotimi. He continues to do more testing and review witness accounts and interviews.
He would not say when his investigation would be completed.
Windslowe’s attorney says he will appeal the $10 million bail.

DOG PAW CRIES FOR HELP – Writes letter detailing pains and beatings
SHELDON WILLIAMS, Staff Reporter
One week after Christopher ‘Dog Paw’ Linton was allegedly beaten severely by soldiers at the Horizon Adult Remand Centre (HARC) ,THE STAR has received letters written by him revealing his discomfort at the ill-treatment being reportedly meted out and his cry for help.
“My name is Christopher Linton. I need help!. I am a remandee at the HARC. I am located on SP11, which is guarded by soldiers and I am a victim of severe physical abuse! My brother was beaten to death in jail and I fear the same will happen to me”, is the opening paragraph of one of Linton’s letters, dated January 30.
In another letter to his girlfriend dated February 22, a day after the alleged beating took place, Linton complained of awaking with excruciating pain all over his body as a result of the prior assault.
“I woke up about six this morning with pain all over babe. I can’t open my mouth at this time, like I have a fractured jawbone. I need something published now. The left knee is damaged, and the right shoulder including my left rib cage even the middle finger on the left hand. Both jawbones are paining now,” Linton wrote.
Interestingly, Linton also made reference to the alleged assault on Leighton ‘Livity’ Coke which left him with injuries he described as greater than his own.
Coke’s head buss up
Linton wrote, “Coke’s head buss up and injuries all over. It’s cruelty that we are facing. I can’t even imagine what’s going to happen the next time. Jah Jah is a piece a man, them want send home to my family”.
He continued,” Right yah now I am shaking while writing this letter babe. I was planning on writing you a book, I started the 19 which was Sunday. This incident stirred up everything. I can’t even continue. I think it would have been better if I had died instead of this. It’s pure madness. Lord God have mercy on us”.
Meanwhile, Dianne Jobson, who is Linton’s attorney, told our news team that she observed that her client had stitches to wounds he had received while in custody.
Jobson explained that Linton had what appeared to be “stitches on his chin, cuts and so on to his back, his jaw was swollen and shoulder. You could see that he was beaten”.
Meanwhile, a statement from the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) has described the allegations made by the inmates as unwarranted.
Captain Basil Jarrett, JDF civil/military cooperation officer, remarked that, “The JDF is committed to continuing to secure these individuals in the interest of national security.”
Furthermore, “We are unswerving in our commitment to carry out our duties at HARC in the most effective, most professional and most impartial manner, and will not relent as we continue to curtail their efforts to influence the nefarious activities of their affiliated gangs,” he added.
