LEGGO BELVIEW GATE MEK KALIFAH SLIP HEEN DEH PLEASE

DANCEHALL ARTISTE Carlton ‘Spragga Benz’ Grant is claiming to be a victim of a conspiracy to smear his reputation.

Grant, who has been named by the police as a person of interest arising out of a triple murder in McIntyre Villa, east Kingston, last Saturday, said yesterday on his Twitter page that he was being set up.

“All this slander and defamation and sensationalisation, even though they know I am not around and lawyers already contacted them … . What a set up!” he told fans on the social-networking site.

On the night of the triple murder, the artiste was scheduled to perform at the Aggie Theater in Fort Collins, Colorado, with reggae star Stephen Marley and his Ghetto Youths crew.

“I have been abroad on my business and these people find me interesting … they should’ve been at the concert. Leave me out unoo madness,” he wrote Sunday.

Spragga Benz is scheduled to entertain reggae fans in Utah today.

“The Depot in Salt Lake City tmro (tomorrow) is gonna be another great delivery of Reggae Music and Jah’s message by the Warriors in Jah Army. One Love,” he told fans yesterday.

GOODMORNING

Psalm 106

1 Praise the LORD.[a]

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
his love endures forever.

2 Who can proclaim the mighty acts of the LORD
or fully declare his praise?
3 Blessed are those who act justly,
who always do what is right.

4 Remember me, LORD, when you show favor to your people,
come to my aid when you save them,
5 that I may enjoy the prosperity of your chosen ones,
that I may share in the joy of your nation
and join your inheritance in giving praise.

6 We have sinned, even as our ancestors did;
we have done wrong and acted wickedly.
7 When our ancestors were in Egypt,
they gave no thought to your miracles;
they did not remember your many kindnesses,
and they rebelled by the sea, the Red Sea.[b]
8 Yet he saved them for his name’s sake,
to make his mighty power known.
9 He rebuked the Red Sea, and it dried up;
he led them through the depths as through a desert.
10 He saved them from the hand of the foe;
from the hand of the enemy he redeemed them.
11 The waters covered their adversaries;
not one of them survived.
12 Then they believed his promises
and sang his praise.

13 But they soon forgot what he had done
and did not wait for his plan to unfold.
14 In the desert they gave in to their craving;
in the wilderness they put God to the test.
15 So he gave them what they asked for,
but sent a wasting disease among them.

16 In the camp they grew envious of Moses
and of Aaron, who was consecrated to the LORD.
17 The earth opened up and swallowed Dathan;
it buried the company of Abiram.
18 Fire blazed among their followers;
a flame consumed the wicked.
19 At Horeb they made a calf
and worshiped an idol cast from metal.
20 They exchanged their glorious God
for an image of a bull, which eats grass.
21 They forgot the God who saved them,
who had done great things in Egypt,
22 miracles in the land of Ham
and awesome deeds by the Red Sea.
23 So he said he would destroy them—
had not Moses, his chosen one,
stood in the breach before him
to keep his wrath from destroying them.

24 Then they despised the pleasant land;
they did not believe his promise.
25 They grumbled in their tents
and did not obey the LORD.
26 So he swore to them with uplifted hand
that he would make them fall in the wilderness,
27 make their descendants fall among the nations
and scatter them throughout the lands.

28 They yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor
and ate sacrifices offered to lifeless gods;
29 they aroused the LORD’s anger by their wicked deeds,
and a plague broke out among them.
30 But Phinehas stood up and intervened,
and the plague was checked.
31 This was credited to him as righteousness
for endless generations to come.
32 By the waters of Meribah they angered the LORD,
and trouble came to Moses because of them;
33 for they rebelled against the Spirit of God,
and rash words came from Moses’ lips.[c]

34 They did not destroy the peoples
as the LORD had commanded them,
35 but they mingled with the nations
and adopted their customs.
36 They worshiped their idols,
which became a snare to them.
37 They sacrificed their sons
and their daughters to false gods.
38 They shed innocent blood,
the blood of their sons and daughters,
whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan,
and the land was desecrated by their blood.
39 They defiled themselves by what they did;
by their deeds they prostituted themselves.

40 Therefore the LORD was angry with his people
and abhorred his inheritance.
41 He gave them into the hands of the nations,
and their foes ruled over them.
42 Their enemies oppressed them
and subjected them to their power.
43 Many times he delivered them,
but they were bent on rebellion
and they wasted away in their sin.
44 Yet he took note of their distress
when he heard their cry;
45 for their sake he remembered his covenant
and out of his great love he relented.
46 He caused all who held them captive
to show them mercy.

47 Save us, LORD our God,
and gather us from the nations,
that we may give thanks to your holy name
and glory in your praise.

48 Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel,
from everlasting to everlasting.

Let all the people say, “Amen!”

Praise the LORD.

THIS IS JAMAICA, A BLOODY JAMAICA

BITTER CANDY

Bitter Kandy

To be myself was more important than being anyone else I was not going to just let circumstances determine my life. I lived with my mother who was a teacher and my step-father who tried his best to support the family. I lived in a housing scheme and just like other families there my family was trying to find their way in society. To me a housing scheme project was just a step from the ghetto actually more like a ready made ghetto. At the age of 15 I had my first real boyfriend I thought l loved him so much and that he was my world. He was a footballer and well known to everyone. I thought he loved me and I gave him my virginity. After the fact I came to find out that he had another girlfriend at another school. This devastated me and I decided never again, it was too much for me. I had done so much to conceal the relationship and he just walked passed me hand in hand with another girl. There was so much pressure and I was not able to crumble because I had to maintain good grades for my mother. She thought education was the key and passed her aspirations on to me.

After the humiliation with the boyfriend situation I had no choice but to change my image so I started thinking about who I wanted to be and how I wanted to look. I changed my name from Kaye to Kandi to go with my new identity. I was kind of on the heavier side I was not a skinny person but I was not fat, I was thick. It all happened over night I started to make my self scarce I stopped eating my lunch at school and saved my money. I started walking to school instead of taking public transportation. I saw a lot of difference in my body I drank a lot of water also. I did not expect to be thin because my frame was not made for that but I wanted to be comfortable in my skin. While walking to school a car pulled up beside me and asked me if I wanted a ride. I refused because I did not know who it was. The driver was about 24 years old and not bad looking. He had a nice car too, but I still did not take him up on his offer. The next day I was approached by him again and he told me that he just wanted to give me a ride to school. I declined his offer again and he left . Two weeks had passed and I did not see him until one morning he waited for me and asked me if I was ready to go with him. I did go with him that morning and many other mornings. He even picked me up from school everyday when he was not away. My mother found birth control in my room and demanded to know what was going it caused a big argument. Dean was a good guy and he exposed me to a lot of things that I would not have known. I knew that his business practices was not anything legal but it did not bother me. I got money from him and he did his best to make me happy after all I was having sex with him. Dean and I would meet up with his friend and his girl who was 20 years old and he was in his early thirties. This girl carried herself really well she was not pretty but she was very attractive. She had her weave done well and she bleached her skin but you would not be able to tell because she did not go over board. The visits were always short but I was able to observe a lot. It also seemed that she was in this business and knew a lot about it. This man seemed as if he was the boss but he was not very far from Dean’s status.

My mother got concerned about my whereabouts and my late nights and told me that I had to shape up or leave her house. I chose the latter and Dean said that I could stay with him. So I packed my things and left the house. Before I left my mother said that I was destroying my life and that I should think about what I was doing. When I moved in with Dean I still went to school cooked an cleaned the same things I did at my own house. Peter was very hospitable but I realised that sometimes he stayed out late at night and sometimes he did not come in at all. I tried to ask him about it but he would tell me it was business and I understood because whenever I called him he would answer the phone most of the time. I was cleaning the bathroom one morning and I realized that his cellphone was left on the top of the cupboard. I took up the phone to bring it to him but by the time I got outside he was already gone. He was in a rush that Saturday and left his cell phone. Shortly after a text message came in that said “I miss you. Did you leave yet ?” I realised that this was not a code for business because this person sent quite a few messages to him. I was shocked but I was not going to give up my only support for this so I decided to play it off I was still young and this would not be the end of my world.
