EAST FLATBUSH — An off-duty police officer shot her 1-year-old son and her boyfriend before turning the gun on herself at her home Monday morning, police said.
Rosette Samuel, 43, was found dead alongside the body of her baby son, in her bed at 805 East 56th St., in East Flatbush, Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne said at the scene. The child, who was identified as Dylan, was shot in the chest, as was the mother, according to the Associated Press.
Her boyfriend, who was the father of the child, was found lying in the doorway, according to Browne. He was identified as Dason Peters, according to the Associated Press. The number and location of his wounds were not immediately available.
Samuel and her family lived on the first floor of the three-story home and the owner of the building lived on the two upper floors, neighbors said.
Samuel was assigned to the 108th Precinct in Queens and had been on the job for 13 years, Browne said. An officer at the 108th Precinct stationhouse said Samuel moved to that precinct several months ago from the NYPD’s Manhattan Traffic Task Force. Sources said she was transferred after getting into trouble as part of the 2010 – 2011 ticket fixing scandal.
A 19-year-old son, Dondre Samuel, from Samuel’s previous marriage was home at the time of the shooting, but escaped out a back window and called 911, according to Browne and the Daily News.
Samuel was a member of the Caribbean Law Enforcement Association, a nonprofit organization for Caribbean and Caribbean-American officers, according to a neighbor, who is also a member.
The man, who declined to give his name, said Samuel was from the island of Saint Vincent in the Caribbean and that her boyfriend was from Guyana.
Ionie Brownn-Johnson, 73, who has lived on the block for over thirty years, said she would often talk to Samuel about her child and see her walking with the baby on the street.
“She was very happy with the baby,” said Brownn-Johnson.
“I am shaking,” she said.

Lauryn Hill claims she stiffed Uncle Sam on a massive tax bill for the same reason she fell off the map after the ’90s — scary threats to her and her family.

Lauryn just filed legal docs asking for mercy before her sentencing later this month, claiming there was a good reason she failed to file tax returns for 2005, ’06 and ’07 … when she earned a total of more than $1.8 million. She already pled guilty and faces several years in prison.

According to docs … Lauryn stopped paying taxes “when she withdrew from society at large due to what she perceived as manipulation and very real threats to herself and her family.”

She’s not specific about the threats — but it’s a new explanation for her mysterious disappearance from the music scene after her rise to fame in the ’90s.

Lauryn previously claimed she went underground to get back in touch with her musical roots.

Lauryn’s asking the court to consider a bunch of other factors before her sentencing — including her claim that she can pay off the debt much faster if she’s not behind bars.

Lauryn is begging for probation. A judge will be merciful — or not — on April 22.

REPTILES and birds are the only creatures known to be capable of laying eggs but a Bulawayo woman proved that even people can.

A city woman, whose identity could not be ascertained, laid an egg during an act by fascinating magician, Sam Sihlahla.

The incident happened on Saturday last week at Egodini vending stalls.

Sihlahla, who is popular for his tricks such as “removing people’s underwear,” swallowing flames, and turning a newspaper into baking flour got to the vendors and performed his tricks.

While at it, he picked one woman from the crowd which had gathered to watch and ordered her to stand in the centre.

B-Metro watched the whole drama unfold.

The woman was asked to stand astride and Sihlahla took a clean white cloth from his bag and put it between her legs.

At that point, a small object fell from underneath the woman’s skirt much to the amusement of the crowd.

Everyone at the scene could be seen scrawling their face. Many were heard saying the woman dropped a stool but when the magician opened the cloth for everyone to see, it turned out the woman had dropped a chicken sized egg.

After showing the egg to the crowd, Sihlahla then picked a log from the ground and lit it to produce fire which he used to “cook” the egg.

The crowd watched in amusement as the magician used his hand to “cook” the egg.

He peeled the egg and invited the woman to share it with him.

The two ate the egg and the Woman confessed that it tasted just like the eggs people know.

“It tastes just like a normal egg which we always eat,” the woman said when the crowd asked.

After the performance, Sihlahla said what he had just done was one of the tricks in his bag of many.

“I can do anything but I cannot explain how it happens. It is just one of those magics,” Sihlahla said.
