AS her classmates psyched themselves up for exams, Prescilla Lloyd fought back tears as she struggled to come to grips with the death of her younger brother, Lennox Lloyd.
Two days after a horrific bus crash claimed Lennox’s life in Portmore, St Catherine, Prescilla, 17, bravely tried to mask her despondence as she went to sit paper two of her Caribbean Secondary Educatio Certificate (CSEC) chemistry exam.
Though consumed with grief, the Ascot High School student was determined to complete the paper.
Her passing that exam meant completing another step towards providing a better future for herself and her mother Opal Kerr — a single parent who provided for her three children by bushing and cleaning highways in the Corporate Area and St Catherine.
But minutes after invigilators handed the students their exam papers and instructed them to begin, Lloyd sat staring into space as she slipped into a trance and memories of her brother saturated her mind.
“Me and him were closer more than anybody else, so I could not think straight to do the CSEC,” she told the Jamaica Observer last Wednesday.
“Honestly, I don’t want to talk about it,” she said, hesitant to speak about the horrific accident which has left her family in shambles. However, with some gentle prodding she continued the interview.
“I went the Thursday to try and do the chemistry, but I was in the classroom and I was marking up his name on the paper. I started crying,” she said, explaining that Ascot High Principal Cedrick Murray, having declared that she was in no frame of mind to sit the paper, later escorted her from the room.
“I missed social studies, chemistry, and IT (information technology) paper one. Social studies was on the same day (of the accident) and then I had chemistry and another exam the following Thursday,” she said.
Lloyd was scheduled to sit six examinations; which her principal was confident she would have passed with good grades had she not had to deal with the tragedy. For that reason, Murray has made it his mission to convince the Overseas Examinations Commission (OEC) to allow her to resit the subjects free of cost.
“That is what I am trying to do right now because she take it (Lennox’s death) really hard. She missed a couple of her exams, and if we can spare them (Lloyd’s family) some of the pressure of paying for those exams again then that would be good,” said Murray during a recent interview with the Sunday Observer.
“I mean, her parents don’t have it, so the assistance would be good, especially since it was not her fault. I have made some contact with the OEC and that is what I am trying to do now,” continued the principal, who this year celebrates his 10th anniversary of service to the institution.

Within his tenure, Murray has lost a few students to motor vehicle accidents, including 14-year-old Renae Barnett, who was last year mowed down by a car that was being driven by an elderly man. The incident that cost Prescella’s brother his life occured outside the Maxi Department Store, adjacent to the Portmore Mall, where a passenger minibus in which Lennox was travelling overturned, killing him on the spot. The minibus, onlookers claimed, hit a curb and overturned when its driver attempted to elude members of the Transport Authority.
His students’ deaths have made Murray stronger and more compassionate, he said, adding that he has come to regard the school’s more than 1,300 students as his own.
“We are here to provide a service, we are here to love them. In my time here I have lost three students but I believe that I have saved many more. I lost three, but I think I may have saved thousands,” continued Murray, noting that many of the students were from troubled communities and families.
“It makes no sense to speak of death every day, because death must happen; people are going to die. What we must focus on is the message,’ Murray told the Sunday Observer. “What was Lennox’s message? His message is that we should love unconditionally. That was his message to me.”
“…Lennox challenged [us], but I couldn’t have loved Lennox any less. So the real message is a message of love,” he said.
On Thursday, a female OEC customer service representative informed the Sunday Observer that this year each CSEC candidate was asked to pay an entry fee of $2,605. Candidates were also required to pay a fee of $1,940 for each subject taken.
According to the representative, while provisions are made for students in similar situations as Lloyd, school authorities must follow the requisite procedures to have them resit exams without paying additional fees. The procedures are not normally followed, said the woman.
“They must contact us by letter with their request and then that request is sent to the Ministry of Education. After that we will inform the CXC (Caribbean Examinations Council),” she said. “Many times the principals blame us for taking too long when they are the ones who don’t follow the requisite procedures,” she cautioned.
While Government foots the bill for three CSEC subjects per candidate, the cost of the remaining exam subjects that her daughter has to sit is still prohibitive for Kerr, who makes $1,000 per day in her cleaning job.
“It would make me feel much better, because I know that she would pass her CSEC examinations. I am confident that she would have passed them to how she does her book work and so forth.”
“She was prepared, she does not give trouble at school,” continued Kerr, boasting that her daughter studied very hard for her exams, and was among the best in her class.
“I just have to do my little work so that my children can eat some food. They don’t have a father around them and I don’t want to run away leave them,” she said.
Kerr said she takes care of Prescilla and another daughter who is 20 years old.
In the meantime, the family is still struggling to come to grips with Lennox’s death. The teen was buried at the Meadowrest Memorial Gardens, St Catherine, following an emotional funeral service in Cumberland, Portmore, two Saturdays ago.
“Last night Power of Faith [church] pitched a tent over Waterford for a crusade… When I went over there I saw all of Elvis’s (Lloyd’s pet name) friends and I started to cry, because I know that Elvis would normally come over there with me. I had to come over back (return home),” said Kerr.
Her daughter, despite the setback of being unable to sit the exams she studied so hard for, said she would be grateful for the chance to resit the exams free, since she doesn’t know where her mother would find the money to pay her exam fees a second time.
She still harbours dreams of becoming a registered nurse; dreams she hopes are only temporarily derailed.
In the meantime, the death of her sibling continues to weigh heavily on her mind daily.
“Some of the times I don’t even sleep because I continuously think about it, and because we use to sleep together [shared a bed], each night before I go to sleep I cry,” she said.

WTF AFRICA- NOSE FLIGHT

A housewife, Mrs. Ruka Amoha who claimed her husband has denied her sexual intercourse for some months decided to vent her anger on her neighbour, Mrs. Yemi Adelani.

Ruka, who alleged that her husband, Wasiu Amoha, starved her of sex because he was enjoying an amorous affair with her neighbour, descended on Yemi and bit off her nose, during an argument at their apartment.

“I cannot accept a situation where Yemi is enjoying her husband and mine at the same time thus denying me the opportunity to enjoy my husband,” said Ruka, a mother of three.

The incident happened at 13, Adealu Street, Dopemu, Lagos, southwest Nigeria.

Doctors at the Lagos General Hospital, Orile Agege confirmed that Yemi’s nose was badly damaged and she needs plastic surgery to survive.

The victim, a mother of four kids, confirmed that Ruka accused her of sleeping with her husband.

She denied ever having any affair with Wasiu, Ruka’s husband, who rented a room in the same building Ruka and her husband where reside.

Yemi said that the difference between them is that she has been living peacefully with her husband unlike Ruka who was always fighting her husband and neighbours.

Wasiu, the man at the centre of the storm confirmed to us that he has been having constant quarrel with his wife, Ruka because of her behaviour.

When we asked him why he was not having sex with his wife, he said it was because of her constant quarrel with him and he had no peace of mind to even think about sex.

On the day of the incident last week, Ruka reportedly ambushed Yemi and grabbed her nose and bit it off.

She bled profusely and was rushed to the hospital where she was treated. But she is still expected to undergo plastic surgery on the nose.

The police from Oke Odo Police Division later arrested Ruka. After interrogation, she was charged before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court sitting at Abule Egba for assault and inflicting injury on Yemi.

The offence, the police said, is contrary to Section 244 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.

She pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate, Mr. O.A. Komolafe granted her bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum; one of them must be her blood relation.

The matter was adjourned till 24 August, 2012 for mention.

She was remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri pending when she will fulfil her bail condition.

THE SIN OF LUCIFER THE ORIGIN OF ALL EVIL- GOODMORNING

he Sin of Lucifer and the Origin of Evil

Printer Friendly Version

Scripture teaches that God is love and, since His character is constant, He has always been love. God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. His purposes and His plans are righteous. He is “holy,” meaning that He is separate from His creation. God is not tainted by a sin-stained creation, provided it can be shown from His Word that He is in no way responsible for its having been stained.

What was the decision that God faced “in the beginning” as He contemplated His future creation? It was whether or not to create independent free-will beings with not only the capacity to reciprocate His love, but also the capacity to reject it and turn against Him. One is not possible without the other. As E.G. White put it:

The law of love being the foundation of the government of God, the happiness of all created beings depended upon their perfect accord with its great principles of righteousness. God desires from all His creatures the service of love — homage that springs from an intelligent appreciation of His character. He takes no pleasure in a forced allegiance, and to all He grants freedom of will, that they may render Him voluntary service. [1]

It seems logical that before God made the decision to create living beings with freedom of will, He had to plan for their possible failure. We believe that in His infinitely diversified wisdom He contemplated every conceivable eventuality and formulated a contingency plan for each, with a view toward His desired goal for mankind. He decided to “go for it,” and because God’s nature is pure righteousness, in His acts of creating such beings He knowingly and willingly committed Himself to a totally righteous dealing with all of them, even if they chose to rebel against Him.

As far as we know from Scripture, the first beings created by God were angels (Job 38:4-7). One of the most powerful is referred to in the Bible as “Lucifer.” [2] Although he was an awesome and powerful being, Lucifer was not made morally perfect. That is, he had free will, he could either obey God or disobey Him, and it was up to him to choose between these two alternatives. Speaking figuratively about Lucifer’s beauty, wisdom and ability, Ezekiel wrote:

Ezekiel 28:12-15
(12) Son of man, take up a lament concerning the king of Tyre [Satan [3]] and say to him: This is what the Sovereign Lord says: “You were the model of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.
(13) You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone adorned you: ruby, topaz and emerald, chrysolite, onyx and jasper, sapphire, turquoise and beryl. Your settings and mountings were made of gold; on the day you were created they were prepared.
(14) You were anointed as a guardian cherub, for so I ordained you. You were on the holy mount of God; you walked among the fiery stones.
(15) You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created till wickedness was found in you.”

Some will ask, “How could Lucifer have even conceived of evil?” This is a very good question, and we believe the answer lies in the above verses. First of all, remember that God created him with genuine freedom of will. Second, God in His goodness had made Lucifer so magnificent that you could say he had a taste of what it was like to be God.

The question could be asked: Why didn’t God create Lucifer with less ability and wisdom, in order to protect Himself against the consequences of his potential rebellion? The only answer we can think of lies in the phrase “the model of perfection” in Ezekiel 28.

The KJV reads, “thou sealest up the sum,” which E.W. Bullinger translates “thou art the finished pattern.” Lucifer was the finished pattern, or the model of perfection, for a created being. That is, God gave him all the capacity for wisdom and understanding that He could give a created being.

Among all God’s creation, Lucifer was most capable of perceiving God’s nature and goodness, having been made most like Him. But instead of appreciating the grace of this exalted station and enjoying the fellowship available with God, he was lifted up in pride, thinking himself to be deserving of even greater status — that due only the Creator Himself. He was close enough to being like God that he thought equality with God was something he could grab. [4]

Making Lucifer “the model of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty” was an expression of God’s magnanimity, and to His credit. Lucifer should have been filled with thanksgiving and praise for his Creator, and eager to serve Him in response to God’s blessings. Instead, pride in his own greatness fueled his desire for supremacy. All he ever said was, “I love Lucifer.” His pride finally drove him to attempt to usurp God’s ultimate authority.

Isaiah speaks of Lucifer’s ambitions:

Isaiah 14:13 and 14
(13) You said in your heart, I WILL ascend to heaven; I WILL raise my throne above the stars of God; I WILL sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain.
(14) I WILL ascend above the tops of the clouds; I WILL make myself like the Most High.[5]

It is obvious that Lucifer had freedom of will, because five times he said, “I will.” But God will have the last word. [6] The impending doom of the Devil is certain, and many verses attest to that fact. God responded to Lucifer’s pride and rebellion by driving him from His presence and casting him to earth.

Ezekiel 28:16 and 17
(16) Through your widespread trade you were filled with violence, and you sinned. So I drove you in disgrace from the mount of God, and I expelled you, O guardian cherub, from among the fiery stones.
(17) Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor. So I threw you to the earth; I made a spectacle of you before kings. [7]

As a result of his fall, Lucifer became the chief antagonist of mankind. He is called by many names in Scripture. He is called “the Devil” (Rev. 20:2 — diabolos literally means “slanderer”), “Satan” (Luke 22:31 — the Greek word satanas comes from the Hebrew satan, which means “adversary”), “Belial” (2 Cor. 6:15 — it means “worthless,” and is used in connection with filthiness and wickedness), “serpent” (Gen. 3:1 — to emphasize his evil craftiness), “dragon” (Rev. 20:2 — to emphasize his evil and power), “tempter” (Matt. 4:3), “accuser” (Rev. 12:10), “evil one” (Matt. 6:13), “god of this age” (2 Cor. 4:4), “prince (John 12:31 — ruler; Greek = arche) of this world,” “prince of demons” (Mark 3:22), and “the ruler of the kingdom of the air” (Eph. 2:2). As the amount of evil and suffering on earth attests, the Devil is doing an excellent job of living up to his biblical names.

Why didn’t God destroy Satan at the time of his original rebellion? Another good question. We believe E.G. White offers a plausible explanation:

Even when it was decided that he could no longer remain in Heaven, infinite wisdom did not destroy Satan. Since the service of love can alone be acceptable to God, the allegiance of His creatures must rest upon a conviction of His justice and benevolence. The inhabitants of Heaven,… being unprepared to comprehend the nature or consequences of sin, could not then have seen the justice and mercy of God in the destruction of Satan. Had he been immediately blotted from existence, they would have served God from fear, rather than from love. The influence of the deceiver would not have been fully destroyed, nor would the spirit of rebellion have been utterly eradicated. Evil must be permitted to come to maturity. For the good of the entire universe through ceaseless ages, Satan must more fully develop his principles, that his charges against the divine government might be seen in their true light by all created beings, that the justice and mercy of God and the immutability of His law might forever be placed beyond all question.

Satan’s rebellion was to be a lesson to the universe through all coming ages, a perpetual testimony to the nature and terrible results of sin. The working out of Satan’s rule, its effects upon both men and angels, would show what must be the fruit of setting aside the divine authority. It would testify that with the existence of God’s government and His Law is bound up the well being of all the creatures He has made. Thus the history of his terrible experiment of rebellion was to be a perpetual safeguard to all holy intelligences, to prevent them from being deceived as to the nature of transgression, to save them from committing sin, and suffering its punishment. [8]

As we have seen, God’s Word sets forth the role of the Devil in the origin of evil and sin — a most logical and plausible explanation. But some people do not believe that there is any such thing as “the Devil.” Their alternative explanations for evil, sin and suffering leave people without hope or recourse, having to blame God, themselves, their mothers, society or cruel cosmic chance.

We find the biblical evidence for the existence of the Devil completely compelling. Moreover, the evidence of evil in the world around us points to a sinister intelligence behind all the misery and suffering we see. Concerning this, E. W. Kenyon wrote:

There is no explanation for the intelligence and organization that is behind the power of sin, if there be no such a being as Satan. The prevalence, power and malignity of sin compel us to look for a cause. [9]

E.G. White’s perspective is also pertinent here:

While men are ignorant of his devices, this vigilant foe is upon their track every moment. He is intruding his presence in every department of the household, in every street of our cities, in the churches, in the national councils, in the courts of justice, perplexing, deceiving, seducing, everywhere ruining the souls and bodies of men, women, and children, breaking up families, sowing hatred, emulation, strife, sedition, murder. And the Christian world seems to regard these things as though God had appointed them and they must exist. [10]

The sin of Lucifer is most surely the root cause of all evil and suffering, but it is not the only cause. In order to answer the question asked of Jesus in John 9, “Who sinned?” we must look further in God’s Word.

I AM NOT A FISH IN HERE

BOIE BOY BUH BOIE BOIE PAPAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH …JFLAG A LIARDDDDDDD..DRAP ASLEEP NOW ..LES GREEN SEH :Gay lobby claims not true, says Green

REAL JAMAICANS EVERYWHERE PUT THIS ARTICLE ON YOUR SOCIAL NETWORK SITES.LET THE TRUTH BE TOLD!!

A day before former Assistant Commissioner of Police Les Green left the island at the end of his eight years of service, he rubbished a common claim by the gay community and international rights groups that homosexuals in Jamaica are victims of wanton murder, mob-mauling and marginalisation.
His pronouncement came just weeks after gay lobby group Jamaica Forum For Lesbians All-sexuals and Gays (JFLAG) suggested that two men killed in the New Kingston area were slain because of their sexual preference.
In an interview on Thursday with the Sunday Observer, Green said despite claims by JFLAG that Jamaicans are intolerant of their lifestyle, and are targeting them for death, his experience during his tenure here was totally different.
JFLAG has, for years, contended that gay people have been marginalised in Jamaica, but Green said while that may have been the case in the past, the country has come a long way in tolerating the homosexual lifestyle.
“I think Jamaica is far more tolerant than the public hype. There is a vibrant community in Jamaica and there isn’t the sort of backlash that some people say. I think we are much more tolerant and accepting. Just go around and you will see they are more flamboyant in the way they dress and behave as if they are comfortable with it. If that’s the case, why are they stigmatised?” Green said.
“It’s just the hype from some who claim Jamaica is very anti-homosexual, but the reality is far from that. There are many homosexuals who live and work freely in Jamaica,” he said.
Green explained that as a homicide investigator he worked closely with the gay lobby group which referred him to several incidents in which members of their community were murdered.
However, the former Scotland Yard detective said his findings show that the majority of gay killings are carried out by members of the gay community.
“All of those murders that I have investigated have been in relationships and are victims of gay attacks, domestic situations,” he said.
On June 13, the badly mutilated bodies of Winston Ramsey and Jermaine Thompson were found in an open lot on Trafalgar Road. Since the gruesome find, homicide investigators have reported that the killings had all the signs of a gay-on-gay crime. However, days after the killing JFLAG, in a release to the media, used the murders as a launching pad to call on Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller to look into the plight of homeless gay men.
“Among the most recent attacks against the gay community was the savage killing of two young men. The men were apparently brutally murdered with blunt instruments in the vicinity of the intersection of Trafalgar Road and Lady Musgrave Road. People who are homeless frequent this area. Among them are young gay men who have been made homeless because of the continued intolerance of homosexuality in Jamaica… We call on the prime minister and the ministers of national security and labour and social security to listen to the cries and needs of members of our community who continue to be subjected to discrimination and violence, have nowhere to live and no food to eat because of their sexual orientation or gender identity,” the JFLAG release read in part.
However, Green flatly rejected that line of reasoning and said of all the murders of gay men that he has investigated only one was not committed by a member of the gay community. “That was Steve Harvey and that case was a robbery,” Green said.
Harvey was a Jamaica AIDS Support employee who was abducted from his Duhaney Drive, Kingston 20 home by gunmen and later found dead on Pinewood Terrace. Harvey’s ATM card and other items were taken. His vehicle was found parked at a football field in Grants Pen, St Andrew. In 2002, the body of selfstyled psychic and television show host, Safa Santura, was found badly bruised and slashed at Cavaliers in St Andrew. Police say he was also murdered by his jealous lover who was later sentenced to life in prison.
Two years later, gay rights activist Brian Williamson was chopped and stabbed multiple times with the murderer leaving his remains inside his house at Haughton Avenue in St Andrew. At the time police reported that Williamson’s home was a hangout spot for gays. His killer, Dwight Hayden, was also sentenced to life.

In December 2006, the decomposing body of Wayne Pinnock was found in an upscale apartment owned by late Trade Ambassador Peter King. His nude body had eight stab wounds and his throat was slashed.
A member of the gay community who was present at the murder scene admitted to the Observer that Pinnock was gay and was in fact killed by his male lover.
King was himself the victim of a gay-on-gay murder. His nude, mutilated body was found in a pool of blood in his bedroom at Waterloo Road, Kingston 10. His killer, Sheldon Pusey, was sentenced to 15 years for manslaughter.
At the time of his sentencing, his attorney pleaded with the judge that his client stood a great chance of being sodomised due to “rampant homosexuality” in Jamaica’s prisons.
At least one foreign national has also fallen victim to the vicious blades of a gay killer.
Former British diplomat John Terry was found strangled at his home in Mount Carey, St James in September 2009. His body was wrapped in a sheet. Police reported at the time that a hand-written note was found in the house which suggested the reason why Terry was slaughtered.
Green, who at the time was the head of Serious and Organised Crime, was forced to refute claims by the British media that Terry’s death was a hate crime.
“I don’t think it is a homophobic attack, although it’s been run in the UK press. It isn’t consistent with the information that we have. It is unlikely,” Green said at the time.
A security guard was arrested, charged and convicted of Terry’s murder.
While Jamaicans are becoming more tolerant of the gay lifestyle, most are not willing to allow public displays of affection or cross-dressing as obtains in Europe and North America.
In February 2007, three cross-dressing men were saved by the police from an angry mob outside a pharmacy in a St Andrew plaza. A similar incident occurred a few weeks later in downtown Kingston.
“I am not into gay-bashing, but the problem is cross-dressing and going downtown. Do they do that to create a media blitz? That just seems too contrived,” Green said.
