    About Us
Big Yard Music Group, is a name synonymous with excellence. The best-selling Reggae artist, superb artist management, mastermind producers, experienced sound engineers, and an environment suited for the making of chart topping hits. Founded in 1996, Big Yard Music Group is a joint venture between Shaggy, Reggae’s only living certified Diamond-selling artist, his manager Robert Livingston and producer Sting International. Up to a decade ago when Shaggy’s individual success was inevitable, he knew it would only be fleeting if they didn’t start to think in terms of legacy. The birth of Big Yard was the first step on the way to creating a lasting vision for the genre they love. The goal of Big Yard Music Group, is to create a central space of opportunity. The studio not only provides for the technical side of music production, but it also nurtures the creativity of promising new artists and producers. Big Yard is currently based in Kingston, Jamaica and is well known as one of the industry’s premier recording studios completely outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment and a highly trained staff.

Though initially brought to fame in the early 1990’s by hits like “Big Up” and “Oh Carolina”, Shaggy later continued to rocket the international Reggae charts with songs like “Boombastic”, “It Wasn’t Me” and “Angel”. The Grammy-winner openly refers to Big Yard Music Group as the reason for his unparalleled success. Big Yard is also home to an impressive roster of talent including; Rayvon, Rik Rok,Christopher Martin, D-major, Iceman, D-Lynx and Richi-Loops ; and seasoned producers Robert Livingston, Sting International and Christopher Birch, are always in high demand.

In addition to releasing albums and singles featuring their own talent, Big Yard also partners with VP Records, the largest Caribbean music distributor, on its Riddim Driven series. Created by the Big Yard family of producers, the series features acts such as Morgan Heritage, Elephant Man, Voicemail, Bounty Killa, Tanto Metro & Devonte, and Richie Spice. The “My Baby” riddim was another hit, featuring Kiprich’s “Telephone Ting”, Shaggy and Olivia’s hit song “Wild 2nite” of Wild 2 Nite” riddim and Jamaica’s #1 radio hit “Bun Him” by Macka Diamond featuring Blacker. Additionally,to join the hit list out of the ‘Big Yard’ is “Church Heathen” by Shaggy on Heathen Riddim which penetrated world’s core reggae charts and the club scenes.

In celebration of their first decade together Shaggy, Robert Livingston, and Sting International are embarking on a new venture: a record label. Pulling on over ten years of achievement and industry experience, this steadfast trio is looking to repeat their Grammy-winning, top-selling success with a new crop of up and coming artists. By grooming new talent and continuing to make hits, Big Yard is focusing its energy on community and taking another step closer to its legacy. With Shaggy’s ear for talent, Robert’s eye for opportunity and Sting seated squarely at the mixing board, the music industry will have no doubt that “the world is one Big Yard and this label is its playground”

Shaggy still has not done 1/2 or put up the fight killer has sorry

  • Met says:

Shaggy has given back and I like the fact that he carries Jamaica’s torch but it was useless to put that up because it still does not equate to how much bounty has helped the music

  • Anonymous says:

i would not even begin to take that from bounty killer but as for mavado [my fav dh artiste]and vybz kartel , we could replace them with shaggy and beenie man …just my opinion

  • Met says:

u r right on that one

  • Anonymous says:

@met we on the same page with bounty killer and my vote is for him ..but i just think that anyone else but these two very questionable persons .especially vybz seeing that he is presently presumably guilty of so much bad stuff that could ultimately set jamaica and dancehall music/industry so far back as it relates to the international audience

  • Met says:

ure right without a doubt …will try to fit him in …and do a poll with some whey nuh do nothing fi di music

  • Anonymous says:

In this list its got to be Kartel .The hottest dancehall artist right now is who? Tommy Flee and who was the hottest before that? Popcaan .who discovered them? His incarceration buzzed all over the world. In this business contreversy is good.My vote goes to Kartel even tho personally I dont like the fucker.

  • Met says:

Mi nuh know why unno tink seh when unno seh uno doe like di people dem dat wi nah go see through di comment n si seh a use unno a try use sikes…whey kartel eva do fi dancehall besides making himself big?

  • Cindy Royal says:

I’m unable to vote for any of these persons. I know Sean Paul did a lot of production in the industry this year & collabs too. He’s the only person I can think of who made any real contribution to the industry in 2012, but he didn’t really hyped it so maybe many ppl didn’t even know.

  • Met says:

cindy nuh much money neva run and him run back pan di jamaican scene because him ting neva did a go hard like before so him try back ja but no money neva run

  • Cindy Royal says:

Well yes his album was lack lustre, but he gets a lot of booking so he could still eat bread. I’m not sure what they mean by no money never run, bcuz he was working with artistes, ie Leftside/Esco (I can never get these 2 str8), Tifa, Fambo et al, that were already established enough not to be looking for him to give them a handout. So while his dimming star may have led to him singing a sanky & finding his way back home, he really didn’t have to do anything at all, but he did, so I’ll give him some props for that.

  • #guhchuckoff says:

how the hell Spragga reach in the line up? Spragga a artist…kmt

  • Anonymous says:

@ PLL BUSINESS I AM VOTING FOR THE SAME PERSON YOU ARE VOTING FOR IS JUST THAT I AM TRYING TO MAKE THE POINT THAT MAVADO AND VYBZ KARTEL SHOULD NOT BE IN THE LINE UP AND I GAVE TWO SUGGESTION THAT I THOUGHT WERE BETTER .YOU COULD HAVE DONE THE SAME IF YOU SAW IT FIT .THIS IS WHY IT IS CALLED “MY OPINION ” OR “YOUR OPINION ” FOR THAT MATTER .WHAT IS A BANGARANG AND HOW DOES THAT APPLY?
