READ BETWEEN MOVADO’S LINES

RE: Snoop Lion x Mavado x Popcaan Collaboration – Mavado’s manager Julian Jones-Griffiths agreed that Mavado recorded a song with Snoop Lion, however, he says Popcaan was added to the song without Mavado’s knowledge.
“Mavado did a song with Snoop Lion for Snoop’s upcoming reggae album. It was supposed to feature another iconic dancehall act but he didn’t do it. So Snoop ended up using a Popcaan verse he already had. Mavado felt hijacked by that as we agreed who the featured act was going to be. But Snoop was on a Rasta unity tip and called Mavado, and explained he wanted Mavado to give his blessing to having Popcaan appear on the record. Mavado is not one to fight youths or young artistes, so he told Snoop to go ahead,” he said.

CUBA’S LITERACY PROGRAM COMPLETED IN AUSTRALIA

Australian Aborigines complete Cuban literacy program

The Cuban government awarded literacy certificates to a second group of Australian Aborigines who learned to read and write thanks to the Cuban “Yes I Can” method in Wilcannia, a town in the Australian state of New South Wales, state media reported.
The graduation ceremony brought together some 80 people “including those who had just finished the course and others who had previously completed it, all with the guidance of experts from Cuba,” the AIN state news agency said.
In May, the first group of 10 Aborigines between ages 25-53 had shed their illiteracy and finished the course in Wilcannia, located some 965 kilometers (600 miles) northwest of Sidney on the edge of the desert.
Taking part in the ceremony for awarding the certificates were local officials and lawmakers who expressed their admiration for the system used, given its potential for improving the community’s standard of living, AIN said.
They also urged the extension of the program to other places of similar cultural origins as well as its continuation to higher educational levels.
Cuban Ambassador to Australia Pedro Monzon presented the certificates to the graduates who, with a speech they wrote themselves, expressed gratitude to the Caribbean island and particularly to adviser Jose Chala, the Cuban who for months had coordinated the program in the Aboriginal community.
Wilcannia is a village of some 700 inhabitants who are mostly Aborigines, with a supermarket and a few streets of housing.
Some 60 percent of the population is jobless and the community is plagued with poverty, vandalism, domestic violence and alcoholism.
The “Yes I Can” method was developed by the Cuban Institute of Pedagogy for Latin America and the Caribbean, or IPLAC, and in 2006 received the UNESCO King Sejong Literacy Prize.
The program has been applied in 28 countries including Nicaragua and East Timor, and has benefited more than 6 million people around the world.
IPLAC officials told Efe that the language used in the literacy program for Australian Aborigines was English. EFE

TURKS AND CAICOS STURRING UP

September 2, 2012  |   Filed under: Latest news  |   Posted by:

According to a media release from the Bahamas Press a Turks and Caicos Islands man was busted for a large quantity of cocaine in the Bahamas.

The editors of the GV was reliably informed that this person is Sean Pratt a local TCI business man.

The following is the release from the Bahamas Press:

GREAT INAGUA, Bahamas – A joint operation between the RBPF Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) Officers and the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) officers resulted in the arrest of two (2) men on Thursday 30th August 2012. Who is John Wildish and what does he have against Turks and Caicos Islanders?

Now regarding John Wildish, the man is what his Jamaican people refer to as a “ginel” and Turks islanders call a “con-man”. I am more than certain that John was a part of Dave Smith big scam. When I returned home in 2007 and kept hearing about FX trader and made enquiry, John was the person who presented to me out of the office which was located at Centre Mews. These ponzi schemes are very popular in Jamaica, and require more than one person. John has been around here for quite some time I first came in contact with him back in 2002 when he was partner with Sean Pratt in their company “Sand Mine Dredging”. Now he is running around claiming to be a victim to him and Dave scheme.

We really need to start paying attention to who and what we allow in our country. To often I see people come in and sell themselves to others and no one ever thinks to do a background check. I am telling you these people come here because they are running from something. They come here trying to get a fresh start.

What is John Wildish’s status in the Turks & Caicos Ils? Why is he here bashing our native people? We dont need these type of negative racist persons living amoung us…

COCKBURN TOWN, Grand Turk (LIME) — LIME’s customers in the Turks & Caicos Islands asked for a plan to call family and friends residing in the Bahamas and on June 1, 2012, LIME answered that call with the new BTC plan.

Customers in TCI were introduced to the LIME’s BTC plan which allowed them to text “BTC” to 145 for 30 minutes of talk time to the Bahamas. Those who activated the plan between the period: June 1 ? July 10, 2012 were automatically entered in a draw to win: a round trip ticket to the Bahamas; a 3 night stay at the Hilton in Nassau and dinner for 2 at a restaurant in the Bahamas.
Mr. Sean Pratt was randomly selected from among the other persons who activated the plan and he has captured the prizes mentioned. He commented: “Wow! Thanks LIME ? I am ready to go on the trip right now.” Sean will enjoy the prize compliments of LIME.
GM Drexwell Seymour said, “LIME is always seeking new ways of reaching out to customers and the company was happy to provide an avenue to strengthen the communications link which allows customers to connect with family and friends in the Bahamas.” He continued, “LIME will continue to do its part in helping families to afford the opportunity to communicate.”
Mr. Pratt was also among those who enjoyed the LIME concert event with local artists and Bahamian guest artist “KB” which concluded with him being the winner of the promotion.
LIME ? Answering the call!

Who is John Wildish and what does he have against Turks and Caicos Islanders?

Folks, John Wildish has been around the TCI for sometime now. I do not know his status in the country or anything about the guy at all with the exception that his public rhetoric does not match what he says about Turks and Caicos Islanders in Private.

Folks when John Wildish is exchanging emails or in company of his rich friends in the Chamber of Commerce. He calls Turks and Caicos Islanders free loaders. The Chamber of Commerce was discussing the effects of the Department of Labour directive to businesses to produce a business staffing plan which would ensure that they do not hire expats if there is not a pressing need for expat labour and that they ensure that a local is trained within a reasonable period of time to take over the job.

John Wildish was livid over this policy. He said that it went against natural justice. He whined about work permit fees and business license fees and objected to businesses training Turks and Caicos Islanders. The man even suggested that the Chamber of Commerce should intervene in the School curriculum because he is of the opinion that schools are teaching students to expect freeness……………

This coming from a man who was convicted of fraud in his native Jamaica!!! Folks the majority of residents do not even know the kind of people we have in our midst, and they are trying to influence public policy in this country. Folks, I am willing to give John Wildish the benefit of the doubt but it is hard to do so when the Privy Council the highest court for the Commonwealth countries upheld the conviction of Fraud against John Wildish. He is on a mission to clear his name and I wish him all the best but he must first ”drop Turks and Caicos Islanders names out of his mouth.” He even wrote a book proclaiming his innocence but the Privy council says guilty………….

Read the fascinating story of John Wildish below, folks it is a must read, it is in his own words so please click the link:

It has been 18 long, haunting years since former Jamaica businessman John Wildish’s promising relationship with the central bank crashed in the courts, but the plaintive strains of his protestations of innocence continue to reverberate.

Wildish was one of the foreign exchange traders at the centre of a black-market controversy which exploded under the People’s National Party (PNP) administration in 1982.

He told The Sunday Gleaner that he sold US dollars to the Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) in those days when the foreign currency was hard to come by and the black market flourished. Continue reading this story here

John Wildish was also accused of being a business partner of David Smith but he has vehemently denied this and in the absence of evidence I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one.

The bottom line folks, we have to start paying attention to those who are in our country and what they are saying. The people must decide if we want to continue to offer sanctuary to convicted fraudsters and the likes who are now trying to hijack our public policy discussions. The question we must now ask is: what is John Wildish’s immigration status in the TCI? John Glasgow
