JMG INTERVIEWS :MOTION

IN MOTION

I recently caught up with Motion a new upcoming artist in the industry and had one of the most interesting and eye opening interviews. I hope it does for you what it did for me.

Where are you from?

Motion: I am the Richmond park area in Kingston.

Let me get right to the point, why did you choose music?

Motion:  Music was an inborn thing, my uncle was my role model, he was a singer, I don’t know if you remember him. His name was pan head.

No what kind of music did he sing?

Motion: Dancehall, he sang African princess, with shocking vibes, he got killed in Marvaley in the early 90ties. Capelton made a song about it ”After mi lef from Jamaica and go a farrin pan tour”. That person was my uncle.

How do your uncle inspire or encourage you?

Motion: He was a great performer, he never had an easy life so to see that he rose from nothing as a ghetto youth and have people look up to him, that motivated me.

Did he know of your ability?

Motion: No, because when he died I was very young.

How many children do you have?

Motion: None, I don’t have any children.

Why no children yet?

Motion: I am focused on my career and children will slow me down also the woman that has my child has to be the right one. I don’t want to have children all over the place.

When you do have children would music be a career you would want them to have?

Motion: Yes, if they choose it.

How old are you?

Motion: Twenty eight

What is your favorite thing to do and why?

Playing foot-ball , because it keeps me fit and its fun, it also relaxes my mind and eases stress.

What kind of stress do you go through that you would need to ease stress lol?

Motion: To tell u the truth, the music industry is not an easy one to deal with , there are haters who try to hold you down and sometimes selectors don’t want to play our songs. So that bothers me and I relax my mind by doing that. Also sometimes you have females who may try to come at you and if you don’t show interest they become the worst enemy. They say I act like I am better than people.

What relationship do you have with your parents?

Motion: I am very close with both my parents, I am closer to my mother than my father. My mother raised me, I met my father when I was eighteen but mother was always there for me.

When you met your father for the first time how did it feel?

Motion: To me it was a very sad but felt good at the same time. I was wondered almost all my life how it would be to have a father and to meet him for the first time it made me sad , because I wanted to know the reason why he wasn’t around but it felt happy to meet him.

How did your mother feel about you meeting your father?

Motion: I think that was the happiest moment of her life, she was the one who encouraged it.

Growing up did your mother encourage you to love him, didnt speak about him or to hate him, I ask this because many children often harbor resentment, depending on what they are told about the absent parent?

Motion: Growing up I thought I did not have a father my mother told me he was dead. I grew up with a stepfather who encouraged her to tell me about him so I spent sixteen years of my life not knowing him. The story that was told to me was that he was not alive. I think she did that to stop me from asking questions.

Do you think this was a good decision?

Motion: No, because at the end of the day reality catches up with you and you will have to face the heartbreak someday. As a child growing up without a father and other children having one it made me feel left out.

When you become father do you think you will do the same thing your father did?

Motion: I always grew up with the concept that I will never let what happened to me happen to my child, I always be there for my youth. It is like this, if you are not careful it will have a negative impact on your lifestyle, what motivated me was music, whenever I felt hurt, happy or sad it was music. I was always what made me feel better. I used music as my way of getting issues off my chest. It made me learn to change negative into positive and I realised that I could help people and motivate them also.

HERE ARE SOME QUESTIONS BY THE BLOGERS

MS DARLING:My question for him is a lot of artist coming out of Jamaica don’t get recognize in the U.S, but mostly in Europe ex. Uk Japan and Germany. Are you gearing towards that crowd and promoting your music there?

MOTION:Music is a universal language so I am gearing towards every market not just one.

BIGMAN: My question to him is… Whats different.. you coming with, to stand out .. over everyone else that is trying to do this music thing ?

MOTION:   My package is different, my name is different I will be singing about real issues and I will try to be as real as possible

SIMPLY: My question to him is… What’s different.. you coming with, to stand out .. over everyone else that is trying to do this music thing ??

MOTION: Music was an inborn concept to me, my whole life has been music. It has been my best-friend, my girl-friend, my wife. Now that I am older, we are engages and I don’t think I will ever divorce. Music is me.

Who do you look up to?

Motion:My older brother and Joe Bagdanovich.  My older brother who motivated me his name is Ilano, he had a hit single with Spragga Benz on the Inevitable rhythm, produced by Skatta Burrell . Joe , because he is successful and doing a lot for the music, he is motivating and changing lives by helping people the general public would see as ‘’nobodies’’ and turn them into ‘’somebody’’. He turns them into Music Ambassadors. He helps the youths who are from the Ghetto and the Garrisons. I respect that.

BLISS: Does he have green eyes?..

Is that a Harjuku shirt he has on?..

Can he play an instrument e.g the guitar?..

Does he plan to sing about anything controversial? (not necessarily politics..)

Does Jamaica (the world) prefer a ‘smooth’  artist or an ‘edgy’ one?..

Is he promoting his brand & personality via Youtube videos, apart from audio…’You think you know but you have no idea’ etc…24hrs with Motion etc..

Does he have any lively Baby Mama’s that will show out on camera and get his videos Youtube hits or future reality tv hits etc?

How ambitious is he really? Is he hungry or doing this for a hobby? Does he have attitude?

MOTION:No, I have dark brown eyes, I can play the piano but controversies are delicate and if I do a controversial song it will have a positive message. I also do music for love and no I don’t have an attitude.

What do you consider to be the perfect woman?

Motion: The perfect woman would be someone who is down to earth, realistic, not boring, lady in the street but bad a yard lol.

What else are we to look forward to from you?

Motion:More motivating music and before I go , give a shout out to the people on your site, I like your fan base so give them a shout out for me.
