A man was the subject of laughter for his friends recently after they found out that he was pursuing a woman for close to three months and didn’t know that she was dumb.

THE WEEKEND STAR understands that the 40-year-old delivery man who works on and off in rural Jamaica, had met his love interest, a bartender, in Clarendon, and was trying to win her heart for three months but was later met with a shocking revelation.

According to the man, Roger James, “when I used to go to the bar, I used to jus’ give her a little money and buy her a drink and all she would do is to give me a pretty smile, but mi jus never get a clue seh dat she dumb”.

A friend of James who is familiar with the story told THE WEEKEND STAR recently that he, too, was surprised that the girl was dumb because he used to see them having conversations. “I remember one time, di two of dem inna di bar and him did a offer her a drink, so he would ask her “what you want to drink, Pepsi, she shake her head, Malta she shake her head, Guinness, she shake her head until him call a drink name that she want and then she would nod her head meaning yes, so him used to jus ask her questions and answer them himself,” the friend said laughing.

According to James who would stop at her bar on several work trips to the country, “she don’t really own a phone but she did give me a number and when I call her on the phone, somebody else would answer and say that she is in the bathroom or that she gone down the road. To be honest with you, probably she was playing around with me or taking me for a ride because she should a mek mi know seh she can’t talk”.

Another one of James’ friends said he, too, was taken back when he heard what had happened. “Mi nuh understand James because all di time mi used to see him a talk to di girl, so mi nuh understand how him never know seh she can’t talk. Up to this day it puzzle me, it seems like him just see di girl and like her but because she always a smile, him probably think seh a shy she shy,” the friend said.

James said that he eventually found out that his love interest couldn’t speak on one of the occasions when he called her telephone number. “When she came on di phone and I said hello, I couldn’t hear nuh talking except for some gibberish, mi couldn’t understand what she was saying. I thought somebody was playing with me because what me hear wasn’t a language. Is her friend did eventually come on and tell me that she is dumb,” he said.

Ok so my boyfriend is taking coke and i dont know what to do. I found out cos one of his ‘high’ days i asked him why the hell was he acting so weird like he’s on crack, he said not crack coke and laughed and was like ‘what its a rich peoples drug baby’
