Claire’s Corner ”LIAR”

How to Detect Lies

I was ask to do this piece so I diverted from “Dick” and obliged my friend so hope this sheds some light in this area *wink*
Ps. *Apology for the late entry*

Warning: sometimes ignorance is bliss; if yu cyah tek di truth nuh ask di question, you may be hurt when it is obvious that someone is lying to you.

Anybody can be a user of these techniques in telling if someone is lying, they are often used by police and security experts. This knowledge is also useful for managers, employers, and for anyone to use in everyday situations where telling the truth from a lie can help prevent you from being a victim of fraud/scams and other deceptions. Yup mi ago let out unu secret lol.
Body language:-
Physical expression will be limited and stiff, with few arm and hand movements. Hand, arm and leg movement are toward their own body the liar takes up less space. Suh if yu si him curl up ina di fetal position you know his ass is lying dwll
A person who is lying to you will avoid making eye contact.
Hands touching their face, throat & mouth. Touching or scratching the nose or behind their ear. Not likely to touch his chest/heart with an open hand. Yup him fraid if him touch him heart it will attack him lol.
Emotional Gestures & Contradiction
Timing and duration of emotional gestures and emotions are off a normal pace. The display of emotion is delayed, stays longer it would naturally, then stops suddenly. Suh if him use to give yu a 5 second hug it become a 10 seconds hug den him jus leggo an gone fast when him tink yu swalla di pill lol
Timing is off between emotions gestures/expressions and words. Eg: Someone says “I love it!” when receiving a gift, and then smile after making that statement, rather than at the same time the statement is made.
Gestures/expressions don’t match the verbal statement, such as frowning when saying “I love you.” Dwl.
Expressions are limited to mouth movements when someone is faking emotions (like happy, surprised, sad, awe, )instead of the whole face. For example; when someone smiles naturally their whole face is involved: jaw/cheek movement, eyes and forehead , etc. When it nuh genuine yu face just cyah hide it that well suh it stays at the lips
Interactions and Reactions
A guilty person gets defensive. An innocent person will often go on the offensive.
A liar is uncomfortable facing his questioner/accuser and may turn his head or body away.
A liar might unconsciously place objects (book, coffee cup, etc.) between themselves and you. Yup . Dem feel di need fi ina a bubble lol
Verbal Context and Content
A liar will use your words to make answer a question. When asked, “Did you eat the last cookie?” The liar answers, “No, I did not eat the last cookie.” Dwl yeah he ate it but jus not the last one lol
A statement with a contraction is more likely to be truthful: “ I didn’t do it” instead of “I did not do it” yu eva notice how dem get verbally correct when dem a lie?!? lol
Liars sometimes avoid “lying” by not making direct statements. They imply answers instead of denying something directly. Like if you ask…” Dick did you good swimming in the kiddies pool??” Dick will answer… “If you say so” lol.
The guilty person may speak more than natural, adding unnecessary details to convince you… they are not comfortable with silence or pauses in the conversation. Yup! Jus stop talk an si how quick dem find a next point fi bring across lol
A liar may leave out pronouns and speak in a monotonous/ high or shaky tone. When a truthful statement is made the pronoun is emphasized much or more than the rest of the words in a statement. Eg: a HIM do it …. ‘him’ (pronoun) is said in a higher pitch when the truth is being told.
Words may be garbled and spoken softly, and syntax and grammar may be off. In other
words, his sentences will likely be muddled rather than emphasized.
The use of distancing language:-
If you believe someone is lying, then change subject of a conversation quickly, a liar follows along willingly and becomes more relaxed. The guilty wants the subject changed; an innocent person may be confused by the sudden change in topics and will want to go back to the previous subject.
an den love using humor or sarcasm to avoid a subject.
Obviously, just because someone exhibits one or more of these signs does not make them a liar. The above behaviors should be compared to a persons base (normal) behavior whenever possible. Suh not because a person might be intimidated by yu an fidget a likle or yu might catch dem off guard wid a uncomfortable question an dem might get tongue tied , that doesn’t automatically qualify dem as a lyad BUT!!!…
Most lie detecting experts agree that a combination of body language and other cues must be used to make an educated guess on whether someone is telling the truth or a lie. Suh bottom line nuh jump pan di first or second suspicion but watch di third more keenly * WINK*
@ all di lyad dem … Keep in mind when you tell one lie you most times have to tell a second a third and even a forth to cover the first one , making you a compulsive pathological liar … Stick to the truth and don’t believe half truth is an escape . MAN/WOMAN UP to your deeds and words ,wake up from illusions an stair away from fantasy/ story telling . Be factual and not fictional , that makes you seem delusional , pathetic , insecure and un- trustworthy=LOSER! Never convince yourself of a lie and try to sell it to others , no matter how insignificantly small / “white lie…. A lie is a lie is a lie and a liar is a liar is a LYAAD!! *one eyebrow lifted*
